# Ecovacs Deebot won't connect to WiFi: causes and fixes

An Ecovacs Deebot that won't connect to WiFi is usually on a 5 GHz band, too far from the router, blocked by router settings like MAC filtering or a hidden network, or tripped up by your phone's mobile data. Here are the fixes from Ecovacs support, including what each app error code means.

## Short answer

Turn off mobile data on your phone, connect it to your home 2.4 GHz network, and keep the Deebot within about 3 m of the router. Make sure the router does not hide its network name, use MAC filtering, or need a web login. Then press the robot's reset button briefly to start pairing and follow the ECOVACS HOME app.

| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Error 10016 or 10017 | Setup timed out | Turn off mobile data and connect your phone to the Deebot's own WiFi. If it is missing, reboot the Deebot and the router. |
| Error 10010, 10018 or 10025 | Deebot cannot reach your network | Move it within 3 m of the router, check the password, and use the same 2.4 GHz network as your phone. |
| Error 10000, 10020 or 10021 | Phone not online | Make sure your phone and home WiFi can load a web page. |
| Error 10006 or 10011 | Network connection timed out | Check that both the phone and the home WiFi have working internet. |
| Error 2, 10002 or 10024 | App or robot program error | Restart the app, turn the Deebot off and on, and try again. |
| Error 10503 | Password could not be sent | Turn off cellular data on the phone and connect the Deebot again. |
| Phone keeps joining 5 GHz | Dual band router | Turn on band steering, or set the phone to ignore the 5 GHz network during setup. |
| Fails on a hidden or hotel style network | Hidden SSID, VPN, proxy or web login | Unhide the network name, turn off VPN or proxy, and avoid networks that need a login page. |
| Fails with MAC filtering on | Router blocks unknown devices | Turn MAC filtering off, connect, then add the Deebot's MAC address from the app. |
| Offline, WiFi light blinking | WiFi password changed | Reconnect the Deebot using the new 2.4 GHz password. |
| Offline, WiFi light solid | Internet or carrier problem | Check your internet service, refresh the app list, and update the app. |

## 1. Prepare your phone and router

Ecovacs lists a set of network requirements before you try to pair. Most failed setups break one of them:

- Turn off 4G or 5G mobile data on your phone so it stays on your home WiFi.

- Use 2.4 GHz. Deebot does not support 5 GHz WiFi. On a dual band router, turn on band steering or set your phone to ignore the 5 GHz network.

- Do not hide the network name, during or after setup.

- No VPN, no proxy server, and no networks that need a web page login.

- Turn off MAC address filtering. After setup, find the Deebot's MAC address in the app and add it to the allow list.

- Use WPA or WPA2 security. Ecovacs says WEP does not work.

- Turn on Bluetooth on your phone, and on Android turn on location services for the app.

## 2. Pair the Deebot step by step

Scan the QR code on the robot to add it in the ECOVACS HOME app, and allow location, local network and other permissions. Turn on the robot's power switch and wait for the startup prompt. The WiFi indicator should flash.

On current models, press and hold the reset button for 1 second and release it. When you hear that the Bluetooth hotspot is on, tap Next so the app finds the robot (named ECOVACS followed by a code) and pairs. Then pick your home WiFi, type the password and tap Next. Passwords are case sensitive.

## 3. Read the app error code

The ECOVACS HOME app shows a number when pairing fails, and Ecovacs publishes what each one means. Codes 10016 and 10017 are a setup timeout: turn off mobile data, connect your phone to the Deebot's own WiFi, and if you cannot see it, reboot the Deebot by holding the reset button until the startup sound plays, reboot the router, then force quit the app and retry. Codes 10010, 10018 and 10025 mean the Deebot cannot reach your network: move it within 3 m of the router, check the password, and confirm it is on 2.4 GHz and the same network as your phone. Error 10502 is a pre configuration failure; just connect again.

## 4. If the Deebot shows offline

Pull down the device list in the app to refresh, fully close and reopen the app, and update it from the app store. Then look at the WiFi light next to the AUTO button. A blinking light usually means your 2.4 GHz password has changed, so reconnect with the new one. A solid light points to your internet provider or carrier.

If nothing works, Ecovacs suggests a factory reset: with the Deebot on, hold the reset button for 5 to 7 seconds until you hear a beep or music, delete and reinstall the app, reboot the router, and try again. As a test, connect it to a hotspot from a second phone.

## 5. Router problem or robot problem?

The hotspot test answers this. If the Deebot connects to a phone hotspot but not to your router, the router settings are the problem: check the band, security type, channel (Ecovacs says 1 to 13), MAC filtering and hidden network settings. If it fails on the hotspot too, contact Ecovacs Customer Service, since the WiFi module may be at fault. That is a warranty repair, not a reason to replace the robot, and the Deebot can still clean from its AUTO button without the app.

## Questions people ask

### Does Ecovacs Deebot work with 5 GHz WiFi?

No. Ecovacs says Deebot does not support 5 GHz. Use the 2.4 GHz band, or turn on band steering so both bands share one name.

### What does error 10016 mean on the Ecovacs app?

Device configuration timed out. Turn off mobile data, connect your phone to the Deebot's WiFi, and reboot the Deebot and router if you cannot see it.

### How do I reset the WiFi on my Deebot?

On current models, hold the reset button for 1 second to start pairing. For a factory reset, hold it 5 to 7 seconds until you hear a beep or music.

### Why does my Deebot say offline?

Refresh the app and update it, then check the WiFi light. Blinking usually means the WiFi password changed; solid points to an internet or carrier problem.

### How close should my Deebot be to the router during setup?

Ecovacs recommends keeping it within about 3 m of the router for setup.
