# Mammotion LUBA lost RTK signal or poor positioning: causes and fixes

A LUBA that loses RTK signal or shows Poor Positioning Status usually has an RTK reference station or mowing area too close to trees, walls or metal, a reference station with no power or a missing antenna, or a weak radio link between the two. Here are the fixes from Mammotion's help center.

## Short answer

Open the positioning info in the app. Fix status is good; Float, Single or None stops auto mowing. Check the RTK reference station LED is solid green and its power and radio antenna are connected, then move it to open sky with nothing overhead within 16 ft (5 m). Over 20 co viewing satellites on L1 and L2 means stable RTK. Move boundaries away from trees and walls, and make no go zones around obstacles.

| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Poor Positioning Status | LUBA or the RTK reference station lacks a strong signal | Give the reference station open sky and a solid green LED, and move the boundary away from obstacles. |
| Float, Ref. Station satellites under 20 | Reference station covered by trees, walls or a roof | Move it to open sky with nothing within 16 ft (5 m). A wall or roof mount is fine. |
| Float, Ref. Station signal WEAK or BAD | Trees, leaves, walls or fences near the station | Relocate the station away from those obstacles. |
| Single, zero satellites, connection None | Station off, damaged, wet inside, or radio antenna missing | Check power, the antenna, water damage, and a solid green LED in daytime. Pair again after replacing it. |
| Reference station LED off | Power cable loose or adapter failed | Push the power cable in firmly and check the power adapter. |
| Connection to Ref. Station Weak or Bad | LUBA too far from the station or thick walls in between | Move the station closer or to a spot with fewer buildings in the way. |
| Float, LUBA sees under 25 satellites | Tall trees, walls or metal near LUBA, often at the charging station | Move the charging station to a more open area. |
| Loses position at a corner or edge | Boundary runs under cover | Use modify boundary to pull the edge or corner out from under cover. |
| Loses position in the middle of the lawn | Trees or metal furniture | Mark those obstacles as no go zones. |
| None, zero satellites on LUBA | LUBA indoors or its rear covered by metal | Move it outside. If it still shows none, contact after sales. |

## 1. Read the positioning screen

Under POS in the Mammotion app, the status tells you how good positioning is. Fix means under 10 cm accuracy and allows auto mowing. Float is about 50 to 200 cm, Single is meter level and None is no positioning; none of these allow auto mowing.

The app also shows satellites seen by LUBA, by the reference station, and by both (co viewing). Mammotion says over 20 co viewing satellites on both L1 and L2 means stable RTK. A WEAK or BAD signal quality can still cause Float or Single even with more than 20.

## 2. Check the RTK reference station

Most RTK problems start at the reference station. Mammotion's checks:

- LED solid green. If off, push the power cable in firmly and check the power adapter.

- Radio antenna attached.

- No damage and no water inside the housing.

- Open sky with no cover within at least 16 ft (5 m). A wall or roof mount works.

- If you replaced the station, pair it with LUBA again in the app.

- Mammotion says the station and mower each need at least a 90 degree open sky view.

## 3. Fix the spots where LUBA loses signal

If the status drops in one place, look at that spot. At an edge or corner, use modify boundary in the app to move the line away from trees and walls. In the middle of the lawn, mark trees or metal furniture as no go zones. For trees with a crown wider than about 6.5 ft (2 m), Mammotion says the no go zone should follow the crown edge. If LUBA loses position on its charging station, move the station somewhere more open.

## 4. What happens when RTK drops

Mammotion says LUBA 2 keeps working through short RTK loss, using its 3D vision to help positioning. Expect drift of about 1% of distance driven, roughly 3 ft over 330 ft (1 m over 100 m). LUBA can also drive itself to open sky to recover satellite navigation. Mammotion's positioning guide says auto mowing is not allowed in Float, Single or None, so if the status does not recover, fix the cause.

## 5. Support, parts and lawn fit

When you contact support, Mammotion asks for photos of the reference station surroundings or the spot where LUBA lost position, plus logs uploaded from the app. A damaged or flooded reference station or a lost radio antenna is a parts case. These fixes come from Mammotion's support pages; we do not test mowers hands on.

Mammotion says RTK LUBA is not recommended for lawns under about 2,150 sq ft (200 m2), lawns where tall walls or trees cover more than 30% of the area, or boundaries more than 50% lined by tall trees or walls. For a yard like that, a vision or LiDAR mower may suit better than chasing signal.

## Questions people ask

### What does Float mean on a Mammotion LUBA?

Poor positioning with about 50 to 200 cm accuracy. Auto mowing is not allowed until the status returns to Fix.

### What color should the Mammotion RTK station light be?

Solid green. If it is off, check the power cable and power adapter.

### How many satellites does LUBA need?

Mammotion says over 20 co viewing satellites on both L1 and L2 indicates stable RTK positioning.

### Can LUBA keep mowing without RTK?

LUBA 2 can continue through RTK loss using 3D vision, with drift of about 1% of distance driven.

### Where should I place the Mammotion RTK reference station?

In open sky with no cover within at least 5 m (16 ft). Mounting on a wall or roof is allowed.
