## Best overall: Botley 2.0

Botley 2.0 is the best first robot for a 6 year old because it turns coding into a game with no screen. Walmart sells it for $63.44, sold and shipped by Walmart. Stemfinity lists it at $79.99 and says it is for kids as young as 5, in grades K to 2.

Kids press arrows on a remote programmer to plan a path, then press go. Stemfinity lists 40 coding cards, robot arms, coding by color, a Botley Says memory game and codes of up to 150 steps. Botley can also follow a black line and light up in the dark.

## Budget pick: Code & Go Robot Mouse

The Code & Go Robot Mouse Activity Set is $71.99 at Stemfinity and is designed for ages 4 and up. It comes with 83 pieces, including 16 maze grids, 22 maze walls, 3 tunnels, a cheese wedge and 30 coding cards. Kids build a maze, then program Colby the mouse to find the cheese.

It is a good pick for a child who loves building as much as the robot itself.

## Wow factor: a robot that talks or roams

Miko Mini ($149) is a small rolling robot that talks, tells stories and plays games, with parental controls. It lasts about an hour of active play per charge and speaks English only. Miko 3 ($299) is the bigger version with a screen face.

KEYi Loona ($429) is the most exciting gift on this list. It drives around the floor, plays games, follows kids and has an expressive face. It needs its dock after an hour or two of play, and its camera roams the home, which some parents will want to think about.

## Ages and safety

- Botley 2.0 has small parts and is not for kids under 3, per Stemfinity.

- Most robot build kits are rated 8, 10, 12 or 13 and up. Save them for later birthdays.

- Robots with cameras and microphones, like Miko and Loona, need a parent to set up the app and privacy settings.

- Help with batteries. Botley needs 5 AAA batteries, and the Robot Mouse needs 3 AAA, none included.

## What to avoid and subscriptions

- Skip robots that only play preset sounds. Six year olds tire of them in days.

- Miko Mini and Miko 3 work out of the box, but Miko sells more content through Miko Max at $99 a year.

- Loona has no required subscription today, but KEYi has only promised free AI chat for now.

- Botley, the Robot Mouse and Eilik need no subscription or account.

## Prices drop around Black Friday: set a price alert

Black Friday is November 27, 2026, and the sale weekend runs through Cyber Monday on November 30. Smart Home Compared notes that most smart home discounts start landing in the weeks before, and that the best prices can sell out within hours. Ecovacs says makers often time promotions to Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas.

Prices already move a lot. During Amazon's October sale, Segway's Navimow i206 AWD mower fell from $999 to $849, and Segway matched that price on its own store, per 9to5Toys. That is $150 back on one gift.

So do not pay full price in early November unless stock is the worry. Open the robot's page on this site and set a price alert. We email you when the price drops, so you can buy on the right day instead of checking every store yourself.
