# Robot lawn mower theft prevention: what each mower has and what to do

Robot lawn mower theft prevention starts with features already in the mower: a PIN, a lift or off map alarm, and GPS or 4G tracking. Turn them all on, then make the mower and dock harder to see and reach.

## Short answer

Turn on every anti theft setting your mower has: PIN lock, lift alarm, geofence alert and location tracking. Most features are off by default, and tracking away from home Wi-Fi needs cellular service, which is free for one to three years depending on the brand. Then anchor the dock out of view from the street, store the mower inside overnight when you can, and check that your home insurance covers it.

## How robot mower anti theft features work

A modern robot mower is tied to an owner account and, in most cases, to its own charging station. Navimow says a stolen mower is useless to someone else because it is bound to an account and needs its station. Husqvarna says the Automower is paired to its charging station and will not work with another. Mammotion says its mowers have an anti reactivation lock that blocks a reset or re registration without the owner's login.

On top of that, most mowers carry three layers: a PIN, an alarm, and a way to see where the mower is. The PIN stops anyone from running it. The alarm draws attention when it is lifted or carried off the map. Tracking helps you and the police find it.

Tracking only works away from your Wi-Fi if the mower has cellular service. Navimow includes 4G free for the first year on the i2 AWD and X430, then charges $32.90 a year. Mammotion includes 3 years of free 4G data on the LUBA 3 AWD, and Mova lists 3 years of free 4G on the LiDAX Ultra 3000 AWD. Sunseeker and Worx sell tracking as an add on module.

## Brand by brand: what is built in

Segway Navimow. When enabled in the app (Home, Settings, Anti theft), the mower sounds an alarm if lifted for a few seconds and keeps sounding until you enter the PIN on the mower, even if it is switched off. A geofence with a 33 to 164 ft (10 to 50 m) radius triggers a siren and an app alert. Navimow also describes Apple Find My support, which can report an approximate location while the mower is off.

Mammotion. Mammotion's anti theft guide lists account binding with an anti reactivation lock, GPS/RTK live tracking with movement history, and GeoFence alerts if the robot leaves the lawn by more than 50 m. It does not mention a siren or PIN in that guide, and says the system mainly improves the chance of recovery rather than preventing every theft.

Husqvarna. The Automower 410 iQ page lists a PIN code, an anti theft alarm that sounds if the mower is picked up, GeoFence and GPS theft tracking in the Automower Connect app. Husqvarna's support page says the alarm also sounds if the PIN is not entered within 30 seconds of pressing STOP, and some models have a time lock that asks for the four digit PIN at set intervals.

Ecovacs. Ecovacs says a GOAT with a PIN set locks itself when it is off the map, powered on or reset. Its blog describes a lift alarm on the GOAT O1000 RTK and real time positioning and sound alerts in the Ecovacs Home app. It does not mention 4G.

Dreame and Mova. Dreame's A3 AWD page lists PIN code lockout, a lift up alert, 4G real time tracking and AirTag compatibility; confirm the 4G module on your exact A3 AWD Pro 2500 listing. Mova's LiDAX Ultra 3000 AWD page says an audible alarm sounds when the mower leaves its zone and stops only with a valid PIN, with built in GPS, 3 years of free 4G and an optional AirTag slot.

Sunseeker, Worx and Airseekers. The Sunseeker S4 lists an optional 4G GPS anti theft module. Worx's Find My Landroid GPS module costs $99.99 but its page lists only the WR340, WR344 and WR346, not the WR320. We could not confirm Airseekers' anti theft features for the Tron SE.

## Step by step: lock down your mower

- Set a PIN you do not use elsewhere, and confirm it is active. Ecovacs and Sunseeker both say not to leave default settings.

- Turn on the lift alarm and geofence alert in the app. On Navimow, set the geofence radius as tight as your yard allows.

- Turn on location tracking and keep cellular service active. Note when your free data period ends: one year on Navimow, three years on LUBA 3 AWD and Mova LiDAX Ultra 3000 AWD.

- Finish account binding and keep the app logged in on a second phone in your household.

- Write down the serial number, model and purchase date. Husqvarna asks for these if the mower is stolen.

- Anchor the charging station firmly and place it out of view from the street. Mammotion and Sunseeker both suggest a spot away from sidewalks.

- Bring the mower inside overnight, while you travel and in the off season. Ecovacs and Sunseeker both recommend a locked shed or garage.

- Add deterrents: a camera covering the lawn, motion lights, a locked gate. Ecovacs also suggests a separate tracker as a backup.

## Insurance: check before you need it

Husqvarna says many home insurance policies cover robotic lawn mowers as standard. Belrobotics says home insurance usually covers robots for theft or damage, but advises checking the policy type and maximum cover. Ecovacs and Sunseeker both tell owners to confirm the mower is covered or add coverage.

Call your insurer and ask three things: is a robot mower kept outdoors covered for theft, what is the deductible, and do they need a receipt or serial number. With mowers like the LUBA 3 AWD at $2,399 and the Automower 410 iQ at $2,599.99 as of October 15, 2026, it is worth knowing the exact limit your policy applies.

## If your mower is stolen

- Check the last known location in the app and whether the mower is still online (Mammotion).

- Lock the mower remotely or turn on Lost Mode if your model has it.

- File a police report and keep the case number. Include GPS history and app logs.

- Report it to the maker or dealer with the serial number, model, date and whether the station is also missing (Husqvarna, Mammotion).

- Contact your home insurer about a claim.
