# Robot snow blower: Yarbo review, price and real costs

A robot snow blower clears your driveway on its own, often while it is still snowing. In the US in October 2026, Yarbo is the only brand selling one to homeowners, starting at $6,199.

## Short answer

If you want a robot snow blower in the US this winter, the choice is Yarbo. The Y40 Core with Snow Blower Gen 2 at $6,199 is the one to look at first. It works best on long, mostly flat paved or gravel driveways, for owners who will spend a weekend on setup. Skip it if your driveway is steep and gets heavy wet snow, or if you want something that works out of the box.

## Why Yarbo is the only option

We looked for every robot snow blower a US homeowner can buy or preorder as of October 15, 2026. Only Yarbo qualifies. Snowbot was Yarbo's earlier name, not a separate brand.

Commercial machines such as the Toro and Left Hand Robotics RT 1000, lease services such as Nivoso, and products with no current store such as Kobi were left out. Husqvarna, Mammotion, Segway Navimow, EcoFlow and Sunseeker sell no snow robot in the US.

## Y40 vs Y40P: which Yarbo

Both use the same 24 inch Gen 2 two stage auger, throw snow 6 to 40 feet, and are limited to a 20 degree (36%) slope while blowing snow. Yarbo claims up to 12 inches of snow depth for both.

The Y40 at $6,199 includes a local RTK base station and is the closest match to the Core that owners and reviewers have run through real storms. The Y40P at $7,799 adds hub motors, a claimed 7,000 sq ft per charge in 1 inch of snow (6,000 for the Y40) and two years of free 4G instead of one, but no independent snow review of it exists yet.

The M Series is a smaller robot with a plow blade, not a blower. It is a Kickstarter preorder with a planned retail price of $5,099 for a 4 module set, and its shipping status was unconfirmed when we checked.

## What owners and reviewers found

Every published review covers the earlier Yarbo Core with the first generation snow module. Nobody has published a hands on test of Snow Blower Gen 2 yet, so treat these as the closest evidence, not a test of what you would buy today.

- PCWorld gave the earlier Core and snow blower an Editors' Choice. It threw snow about 7 to 8 meters, paused when people came near, and needed studded tracks on ice.

- A New Jersey owner woke to a cleared 6,000 sq ft, 300 foot sloped driveway after an overnight run in January 2026, but estimated setup at about 30 hours and reprogrammed it twice because snow went the wrong way.

- In a February 2026 Nor'easter the same unit worked through the night, recharging about 90 minutes between runs. Wet, heavy snow on his steep incline bunched up in front of it and sent it back to charge more often.

- A 9 month owner writing for Pocketables logged 32 support tickets, a power board failure and a GPS antenna failure, with 3 to 7 day support turnaround, and still called it excellent when it works.

- Freshly Charged found the earlier S1 module clogged in wet snow and could not dock when snow blocked the charging pad.

## What it costs to own

- Positioning: Yarbo advertises NetRTK as free for life in supported areas.

- 4G: optional; free for 1 year on the Y40 and 2 years on the Y40P, then listed at $29.90 (Yarbo does not state the period).

- Replacement 38.4 Ah battery: $1,199.

- Shear and cotter pins (set of 8): $29. Track grease: $49. Snow plow blade add on: $159.

- Warranty: 2 years on the Core, battery and modules. A 3 year AIG extension (up to 5 years total) is offered on yarbo.com purchases within 60 days; the price shows only at checkout.

## Known issues before you buy

In May 2026 a security researcher disclosed firmware flaws, including a shared root password and a persistent remote tunnel (CVE 2026 7413). Yarbo said it reset passwords, disabled the tunnels and promised per device credentials. Keep the firmware updated.

GPS loss and positioning errors are the most common failure long term owners report. Plan for open sky over the driveway, and expect the battery to need 20 to 30 minutes to warm up before charging in deep cold, per PCWorld.

## Who should skip a robot snow blower

Skip it if your driveway is steeper than 20 degrees, if you mostly get heavy wet snow, or if a $6,199 price is more than several seasons of a plowing service. A two stage gas or battery snow blower still costs a fraction of this. The robot makes sense when your time, a long driveway and frequent light to moderate snow add up.

## Questions people ask

### Do robot snow blowers actually work?

Yes, with limits. A New Jersey owner reported his Yarbo cleared a 6,000 sq ft sloped driveway overnight, and PCWorld called the snow blower attachment great. Owners and reviewers also report trouble with heavy wet snow on hills, GPS dropouts and lengthy setup.

### How much is a Yarbo snow blower?

On yarbo.com the Y40 Core with Snow Blower Gen 2 is $6,199 and the Y40P version is $7,799. The Gen 2 module alone is $2,200 and a refurbished earlier Yarbo Snow Blower is listed at $3,199, all as of October 15, 2026.

### How deep a snowfall can a robot snow blower handle?

Yarbo claims up to 12 in with a 12 in intake, and about 6,000 to 7,000 sq ft per charge in 1 in of snow. Because area per charge drops in deep snow, owners set it to run during the storm rather than after.

### Is there a subscription?

No subscription is required. Yarbo advertises NetRTK positioning as free for life in supported areas, and 4G is optional, free for 1 year on the Y40 and 2 years on the Y40P.

### Are robot snow blowers safe?

PCWorld found the Yarbo pauses when people come near. In May 2026 a researcher disclosed firmware flaws, including a shared root password and a hidden remote tunnel (CVE 2026 7413); Yarbo said it reset passwords and locked down remote access.
