## Verdict

The A1 gives you a full 256 mm build volume and hands off calibration for $299, or $399 with the AMS lite for 4 color prints. It suits beginners and hobbyists who print PLA and PETG and want bigger parts than the A1 mini allows. Skip it if you want ABS or ASA parts often, because it has no enclosure.

## Questions buyers ask

### Was the A1 recalled?

Yes. In June 2024 CPSC announced a recall of about 12,800 A1 printers sold from December 2023 to January 2024 over a heatbed cable. Bambu Lab says units sold after January 30, 2024 are not affected.

### Can I add an enclosure?

Bambu Lab does not recommend enclosing the A1. Look at the P1S if you want an enclosed printer.

### How many colors can it print?

Up to 4 with one AMS lite, since the A1 supports only one AMS lite.
