## What reviewers found

### 1X NEO

- The Wall Street Journal (Joanna Stern), as summarized by Daring Fireball: Stern tried NEO before preorders. A human operator in a VR headset controlled it; it nearly tipped over closing a dishwasher, took about two minutes to fold a shirt and twisted an arm during a dance. She raised privacy concerns about operators seeing through its cameras. [Source](https://daringfireball.net/linked/2025/10/31/stern-1x-neo)
- Dezeen (Ellen Eberhardt): Toured 1X's Palo Alto facility and saw NEO units and parts but did not report watching it do chores. Reported that most tasks still require teleoperation through a VR headset and that NEO is only partly autonomous for now. [Source](https://www.dezeen.com/2026/04/23/1x-neo-servant-robot-factory/)

### Unitree R1

- Businessonline.it (Marcello Tansini): In a "we tried it" piece, found R1 compact and agile, able to walk, run and stand up after a fall, but with fixed hands that cannot pick up, carry or clean, limited torque and about an hour of battery. Called it a demo, education and developer machine, not a domestic assistant.
