Unitree Robots: Lineup and Buying Guide
Unitree is a Chinese robot maker best known for robot dogs and walking humanoids that ordinary buyers can actually order. We track two Unitree humanoids. As of October 16, 2026, the R1 is $5,900 and the G1 is $13,500 on Unitree's site, before shipping and duties. Neither is scored yet, and neither does housework. Buy the R1 if you want a walking humanoid for fun or coding at the lowest price, the G1 only if you plan to program a full size research robot, and neither if you want help with chores.
Unitree Robotics was founded in 2016 in Hangzhou, China, by Wang Xingxing, who still controls the company. It makes quadruped robots, humanoid robots and robot parts. In 2025 it shipped over 5,500 robots, with humanoids making up more than half of its revenue, according to a Hangzhou government report on its IPO filing. Its shares opened for subscription on Shanghai's STAR Market in August 2026.
The lineup has two families. The Go2 robot dog launched in 2023 at $1,600 for the Air version and $2,800 for the Pro, per IEEE Spectrum, and Unitree also sells larger B2 and A2 quadrupeds through its sales team. On the humanoid side, Unitree lists the small R1, the G1, and the larger H1 and H2 models, which Robozaps found were not orderable through checkout in July 2026.
We track two Unitree humanoids in detail, the R1 and the G1, because they are the ones a home buyer can order today. Prices below come from our robot data, checked on unitree.com on October 16, 2026.
We track 3 Unitree robots for companions and humanoids on robotsforthat. Each page lists the maker's specs, the current US price, what independent reviewers found and the safety record we could check. Prices we checked run from $1,600 to $13,500. We recheck prices daily and show the date of the last check on every page. 1 of these robots has enough published test results for our score. The highest scoring is the Unitree Go2 at 5.8 out of 10.
Across the lineup we cite 5 independent tests, each linked on the robot's page so you can read the original. The newest model we list is the Unitree R1, released Jul 2025. Our score is the same formula for every brand: 70% independent test results and 30% value for money. Affiliate deals never change it. How we score.

Which Unitree to buy
- Cheapest walking humanoid for fun, video or classroom coding: R1. It walks, runs and gets up after a fall, but Businessonline.it found its fixed hands cannot pick up, carry or clean.
- Full size robot to write your own software for: G1. It has about 2 hours of battery and a large developer community, but SDK access and dexterous hands come with the EDU version.
- Help with laundry, dishes or tidying: neither. Unitree claims no home chores for either robot.
- Home with small children or pets: skip the G1. Unitree advises keeping a safe distance from it while it runs.
- Robot dog instead of a humanoid: the Go2, which IEEE Spectrum reported at $1,600 for the Air version at launch.
US availability and real cost
You can buy the R1 and G1 direct from unitree.com. BotInfo reports R1 shipping of $300 to $1,200 on top of the list price, plus customs duties paid by the buyer. US dealer RoboStore sells the R1 Basic at $8,990 with US shipping and the R1 EDU from $15,950, and said in June 2026 that US orders ship within 30 days. Robozaps listed the base G1 as backordered in July 2026.
The FCC rule and security concerns
On July 28, 2026 the FCC added foreign made humanoid and quadruped robots to its Covered List. That blocks new models without FCC authorization, but models authorized before then stay legal to sell and use. BotInfo reports an FCC ID for the R1 dated June 22, 2026. Check the FCC ID on any unit before you buy.
Tech Times also points to past Unitree firmware backdoor flaws, tracked as CVE 2025 2894, and a June 2026 Pentagon designation of the company. If you are worried about a connected Chinese robot in your home, weigh this before buying.
Warranty and support
Unitree's warranties are short. The maker lists 8 months on the R1, 6 months on the R1 Air and 12 months on the R1 EDU. The G1 gets 8 months and the G1 EDU 18 months. A spare R1 battery costs about $750 at a US dealer, per BotInfo. A local dealer such as RoboStore may be easier for support than ordering from China.
Our verdict
Unitree sells the most affordable walking humanoids you can actually receive today, and they are impressive to watch. They are showpieces and coding platforms, not housekeepers. If your goal is less housework, a robot vacuum, mower or pool robot will save you far more time for far less money.
