Beatbot error codes: what the lights and app alerts mean

Beatbot error codes are not numbers. Beatbot pool robots report faults through a flashing orange status light and through plain text alerts in the Beatbot app, such as a clogged filter basket or a tangled roller brush.

Short answer

Beatbot does not publish numbered error codes. On the AquaSense 2 and Sora 70, a flashing orange status light means a malfunction (or a factory reset in progress), and the app names the cause, such as a clogged or missing filter basket, a tangled roller brush or track wheel, or debris on the propeller. Clear the cause, and if the orange light stays, check the impeller and contact Beatbot support.

Why Beatbot uses lights and app alerts instead of codes

The AquaSense 2 and Sora 70 manuals describe one status light on the robot. Green, yellow and orange show the battery level, a pulsing light means charging, blue flashing means network setup or an update, and orange flashing means a malfunction. On the Sora 70, orange flashing can also mean a factory reset is running.

The details come through the Beatbot app. Beatbot's Help Center lists four main alerts for the AquaSense 2 series: a clogged filter basket, a missing filter basket, a tangled roller brush or track wheel, and debris on the propeller. Wi-Fi does not pass through water, so the app only updates once the robot is out of the pool.

Flashing orange light: what to check

Beatbot's manuals do not list a single fix for flashing orange, so start with the app alert and the common causes below.

  • If the robot sits by a drain or obstacle, give it a few minutes to free itself, then pull it out with the hook.
  • Turn off the pool circulation pump while the robot runs, since drain suction can hold it down.
  • Lift it out, power it off and clean the filter basket.
  • Open the top cover, take out the basket and check the impeller turns freely both ways. Remove any debris.
  • Check the roller brush, track wheels and propeller for hair, string or leaves.
  • If the orange light comes back, contact Beatbot support with the serial number and the app logs.

Charging and power problems

If the robot will not charge, Beatbot says to test the outlet with another device, then wipe the charging port with a damp cloth. White crusty deposits can be removed with citric acid or white vinegar. Clean the charging pins and make sure the charger or dock is fully seated.

Beatbot also gives voltage checks with a multimeter. For the adapter, a reading between 26.6 V and 30 V is normal. For the AquaSense 2 dock, above 25.6 V at the metal contacts means the dock is fine. Outside those ranges, contact support. If a robot with a solar panel turns itself on, sunlight is doing it, so store it out of direct sun.

Robot does not move, sink or come back

A robot that floats or sits still after going in is often releasing air from its buoyancy chamber. Beatbot says to wait about 3 minutes on the AquaSense 2 and about 5 minutes on the Sora 70. A Sora 70 resting on the floor may also be in ECO mode, which runs a cycle every two days.

After a run the robot climbs to the waterline and waits 10 minutes. If nobody picks it up, it sinks back down and goes to standby, so use the hook. If it does not climb the wall at all, a full filter basket is the most common cause. Some noise for a few minutes after cleaning is normal draining.

When to contact Beatbot support

Contact Beatbot support if the orange light keeps returning after you clean the basket, impeller, brush and propeller, if the filter basket alert stays after you check the magnet, if the voltage checks fail, or if a Sora shows no Wi-Fi hotspot while it flashes blue.

In our data the AquaSense 2 Ultra has a 3 year full replacement warranty, and the AquaSense 2 and Sora 70 have 3 years.

Questions people ask

Why is my Beatbot flashing orange?

A flashing orange status light means a malfunction. On the Sora 70 it can also mean a factory reset is in progress. Check the app for the alert, clean the filter basket and impeller, and free the robot if it is stuck on a drain.

Does Beatbot have error codes?

Beatbot does not publish a numbered error code list. Faults show as status light colors and as text alerts in the Beatbot app, such as a clogged filter basket or a tangled roller brush.

Why does my Beatbot say install the filter basket when it is in?

The robot senses the basket with a magnet. Check the magnet is in place on the basket. If it is and the alert keeps appearing, contact Beatbot support.

Why is my Beatbot not charging?

Test the outlet, wipe the charging port and pins, and remove any white deposits with citric acid or white vinegar. If it still will not charge, Beatbot suggests checking the adapter or dock voltage with a multimeter and contacting support.

Why won't my Beatbot come back to the surface?

It waits at the waterline for 10 minutes after cleaning, then sinks and goes to standby if nobody lifts it out. A full filter basket can also stop it from climbing. Use the hook to bring it up.
