Narwal robot vacuum error codes and fixes
Narwal robot vacuums show four digit error codes in the app. Codes starting with 1 are robot faults, codes starting with 2 are base station faults, and codes starting with 3 are for the automatic water change module. Most clear after cleaning a part and restarting.

As of October 27, 2026, Narwal's support index lists four digit codes for its robot vacuums. The ones owners see most: 1012 Robot Trapped (clear obstacles, check the bumper and LIDAR), 1022 or 1023 Base Station Not Found (check base power and wipe the reflector stickers), 1044 Roller Brush Tangled (clear hair from the brush), 1045 Dustbin or Dustbag Not in Place (reseat it and clean the sensor), 1017 Anti-Drop Sensor Triggered (clean the cliff sensors), 2007 Dirty Water Tank Full or Not Installed (empty and reseat it, check the float ball), and 2032 to 2034 Dust Collection Malfunction (replace the bag, clear the inlets). If a code returns after the fix, Narwal says to contact support.

How Narwal error codes are numbered
Narwal shows errors as four digit codes in the Narwal Freo app, often with a voice prompt from the robot. The first digit tells you where to look. Codes in the 1000s point at the robot itself: battery, brushes, wheels, sensors, LIDAR and the mopping module. Codes in the 2000s point at the base station: water tanks, dust bag, pumps and detergent. Codes in the 3000s belong to the automatic water change module, the plumbed in kit some docks can use.
Narwal groups several numbers under one name. For example 1014, 1015 and 1016 all mean a drive wheel problem. The exact number helps support, so take a screenshot of the app before you clear the error.
The quick reset Narwal suggests first
For most system, sensor and base station codes, Narwal's first step is a power cycle. Turn the robot off and on. For the base, unplug it, wait until its indicator or screen goes dark, then plug it back in. Narwal's Freo X Ultra help page says to wait 30 seconds after the base light goes out.
Narwal adds two special cases. If the robot sucked up a lot of liquid (code 1046), leave it powered off for 12 hours before you try again. For battery temperature codes 1005 and 1006, keep the base between 5 and 40 °C, move it out of direct sun, and let the robot rest 30 minutes.
Stuck, lost or cannot find the dock
Robot Trapped (1012, 1123, 1124) is the code most people meet. Clear cords, rug fringe and low furniture gaps, then move the robot to open floor. Narwal also asks you to check that the bumper springs back, that the LIDAR on top spins, and that it shows no red blinking light. If the LIDAR feels stiff, turn it gently with a cotton swab. If it still resists, that is a support case.
Base Station Not Found (1022, 1023) has two sides. Near the base, check that the base has power and that the roller brush, rear wheels, caster, mop pad and ramp extension are all fitted. Away from the base, wipe the reflector stickers on the dock so the robot can see them. If you moved the base, remap. Cannot leave or return to the base (1024, 1025) usually means clutter around the dock or an uneven floor in front of it.
Base station water and dust codes
2007 means the dirty water tank is full or not detected. Empty it, seat it firmly, then shake the float ball inside gently up and down and check the sealing ring. 2003 is a water overflow. Narwal's fix is to remove the cleaning tray and ramp pad, dry the base, clean the tray, and press the dirty tank lid until you hear and feel a click. Check that the tank sealing strips and silicone seals sit in their grooves, and do not add other brands' fragrance or detergent to the clean tank.
2032 to 2034 are dust collection faults. Replace the dust bag if it is full. If not, clear hair from all three dust inlets and run Dust Canister Disinfection from the base station icon in the app a few times. 2006 and 2017 mean the clean water is not dispensing: check the tank tubing and clean the filter pad inside the tank.
When a repeat code means a worn part
Some codes come back because a part is wearing out, not because of a one off jam. A side brush code (1041 to 1043) that returns after cleaning usually means bent or frayed bristles, and Narwal's own fix lists replacing the side brush. Roller brush codes (1007, 1008, 1044) that return often point to a worn brush or hair packed into the brush ends. 2032 to 2034 that return after every bag change can mean a blocked inlet path rather than the bag.
Others point to parts you should not replace yourself. Repeat wheel codes (1014 to 1016) mean a wheel that does not spin evenly. Repeat LIDAR codes mean the turret or its motor. Battery codes that keep coming back, especially 1001 to 1004 or 1141, suggest the pack is ageing. Code 1140 means the robot thinks the battery is not a genuine Narwal pack, which Narwal calls a safety risk. Rusted or missing magnets on the tanks or cleaning module (2004, 2005) also need replacement parts from Narwal.
When to contact Narwal support or use the warranty
Contact Narwal if a code stays after the steps above, and right away for 1039, 1040, 1113, 1121, 1140, 1150 to 1156 and 2016, which Narwal sends straight to support. In the US and Canada you can email [email protected], call 1 (866) 939 2153, or use live chat. Have the robot serial number, the error time, a screenshot and a short video ready. Narwal asks for these on many codes.
Narwal's warranty policy gives one year for products bought outside the EU and Switzerland, which covers US buyers. It covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Narwal excludes batteries as normal wear and tear, plus consumables, misuse and products from unauthorized sellers. If you bought from a store, Narwal says to contact that seller first. Keep the receipt.

What is Narwal error 2007?
2007 means the dirty water tank is full or not installed. Empty it, reseat it, and check the float ball and sealing ring inside. Contact support for parts if anything looks damaged.
How do I reset a Narwal robot vacuum?
For most codes, turn the robot off and on. For the base, unplug it until the indicator goes dark, wait about 30 seconds and plug it back in. If the robot took in a lot of liquid, leave it off for 12 hours first.
What does Narwal error 1045 mean?
1045 means the dustbin or dust bag is not detected. Reseat it. If it is already in place, clean the detection sensor and power cycle the robot.
How long is the Narwal warranty in the US?
Narwal's policy gives one year for products bought outside the EU and Switzerland. Batteries are excluded as wear and tear, and consumables are not covered.
