Tracked desk robot that turns your phone into a ChatGPT pet
Researched by Riley Hart · updated Oct 30, 2026
Is the TangibleFuture LOOI worth it? LOOI is a playful desk toy that gives your phone wheels and a ChatGPT personality, with face tracking and edge sensors so it stays on the table. It costs $220 as of Nov 4, 2026, and 2 independent reviewers tested it.
LOOI is a playful desk toy that gives your phone wheels and a ChatGPT personality, with face tracking and edge sensors so it stays on the table. It suits adults and teens who want a quirky desk companion and have a phone to spare. Skip it if you want a robot that works on its own, since it does nothing without a docked phone and reviewers found it buggy and hit and miss.
Best for: a quirky AI desk companion. Skip if: you do not want to dock your phone.

What independent reviewers found
- Fun and cute desk robot the reviewer's family loved, but it struggled to hear commands with the TV on, obstacle avoidance was weaker in the dark, recognition was hit and miss and it is pricey given it relies on your phone.
- Impulse Gamer · 4
- Charming, expressive and safe on the desk thanks to edge detection; it can be buggy and rambling at first, though updates over several weeks improved it.

Does LOOI need my phone?
Yes. Your phone docks on top and supplies the screen, camera and processing through the LOOI app. Without a phone it does nothing.
Will it fall off my desk?
It has cliff and ToF sensors and stops at the desk edge, which techbuzzireland confirmed in testing.
Which phones work?
Android phones and iPhones with the LOOI app. iPhone 12 and later or MagSafe cases attach directly; other phones need the included docking ring.
