Aiper pool cleaner won't charge: causes and fixes

An Aiper that won't charge usually has a failed charger, dirty or corroded charging pins, or a battery that is too hot or cold to accept a charge. Aiper's fix is to test the charger on its own, clean the pins on both sides and charge at room temperature.

Researched by Riley Hart · updated Oct 27, 2026 · How we research

Short answer

Plug the charger into the wall on its own first: a green light means it works, no light means it has failed. Connect it to the robot and the light should turn red; if it stays green, clean the charging pins on the robot and charger. Aiper says the battery will not charge below 50°F (10°C) or above 104°F (40°C), so bring the robot indoors to settle. A battery left empty for months can be locked out and needs a replacement through Aiper.

We read every question. When several owners ask the same thing, the answer goes on this page.

Step by step checks, in order

Aiper's charging articles all start with the charger, because its light tells you whether the fault is in the charger or the robot. On most Scuba models the charger light is green on its own, red while charging and green again when full.

  • Take the robot out of the water and dry it.
  • Plug the charger into a known working wall outlet without the robot. A green light means the charger works; no light on several outlets means it has failed.
  • Connect the charger to the robot. The light should turn red.
  • If it stays green, clean the charging pins on the robot and the charger with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab and check for bent pins or corrosion.
  • Make sure the charger is fully seated, then wait for the light to turn green again before the robot goes in the pool.
  • If nothing changes, move the robot indoors to room temperature and try again.

Amber lights, beeping and heat warnings

On the Scuba N1, Aiper says yellow or amber blinking on plug in is usually the battery management system calibrating or a poor contact at the port. Unplug for 30 seconds, dry and clean the port and reconnect. Blinking with a beep means the charger and battery are not talking, so wipe the contacts with a dry cloth. If amber blinking lasts beyond a few minutes on more than one outlet, contact support with a video.

On the Scuba X1, steady beeping at 75 to 80% points to the charging port or battery management board; try another outlet and claim warranty service if it continues. A red flashing light with a high battery temperature warning is a safety issue: stop charging, unplug, move the robot away from anything flammable, let it cool and do not recharge it. Aiper says to contact support, and if the warning returns after cooling the battery management system may be faulty.

Temperature, storage and battery care

Aiper's S3 article says the lithium battery will not accept a charge below 50°F (10°C) or above 104°F (40°C). A robot left on a hot deck or brought in from a cold garage needs time at room temperature first.

A battery stored empty for months can drop below its safe voltage, and Aiper says the battery management system then blocks charging. That needs a battery replacement through support. To avoid it, Aiper suggests storing the robot at 50 to 60% charge at room temperature and not leaving it on the charger for more than 24 hours. Use only the genuine Aiper charger and cable. In salt pools, rinse the robot with fresh water after each run and dry the charging port before you connect it.

When to contact support or replace the robot

Aiper says the battery is internal and not user replaceable. Contact support for a charger that is dark on every outlet, amber blinking that will not clear, beeping that continues on another outlet, a heat warning, a robot that will not hold a charge after a full charge, or no response after 30 minutes on a known good charger. Have the serial number, purchase date and a video of the light ready.

Aiper support is at +1 866 850 0666, every day 8 AM to 8 PM ET, or [email protected]. Warranty claims go through aiper.com/us/process-a-warranty. Aiper says the Scuba N1 has a 2 year warranty. The parts involved are the charger, the charging cable and the battery; since the battery is a warranty or service repair, check your coverage before you consider replacing the robot.
