Husqvarna Automower error codes: what each message means and how to fix it
Husqvarna Automower error codes are text messages, not numbers. The mower shows them on its display or in the Automower Connect app, and Husqvarna's support site has one article per message with the causes and fixes.
Researched by Riley Hart · updated Oct 21, 2026 · How we research
Husqvarna Automower errors are written messages such as Outside work area, No loop signal, Trapped, Lifted and Wheel motor blocked. For most of them the fix is to remove the physical cause, such as debris on the wheels, an obstacle or a wire problem, then restart the mower. Safety errors like Lifted or a pressed STOP button need manual action at the mower: press STOP, enter your PIN and start it again.
| Error message | What it means | Fix from Husqvarna |
|---|---|---|
| Outside work area | The mower thinks it has left the area inside the boundary | Keep the wire at least 35 cm from slopes and obstacles, check the wire sits on the right pins at the station, and check the wire direction around islands; on EPOS models move the virtual boundary away from slopes |
| No loop signal | The mower cannot pick up the boundary wire signal | Check the charging station LED: flashing blue points to a broken wire or loose connection, off means no power, solid red means a power supply or board fault, and solid green means range, interference or wire length problems |
| Trapped | Several collisions or loop events in a short time | Move the mower to a clear spot and restart; fence off repeat trap spots with an island or stay out zone, widen narrow gaps, clean the blade disc and keep grass under the model's height limit |
| Lifted / Alarm! Mower lifted | The lift sensor was triggered | Move the mower to a flat spot, enter the PIN and restart; then check for tall grass, roots, gravel, slopes near the boundary, debris between body and chassis, and a loose body |
| Upside down | The tilt sensor reads an angle too steep to run safely | Turn the mower upright and keep slopes steeper than the rating out of the work area with a stay out zone, an island or a moved wire |
| Wheel motor blocked | Grass or an object is wrapped around a drive wheel | Turn the mower off, clean the wheels and the area around them, then restart |
| Wheel motor overloaded, right/left | A drive wheel has unusual resistance | Clear grass from the wheel, free the mower if it is caught, and fence off obstacles in its path |
| Cutting system blocked | Something is stopping the blade disc | Lift the mower off any object, clean under the deck and around the wheels, raise the cutting height for tall grass, and keep slopes within the model's limit |
| Collision sensor problem | The collision sensors stay triggered | Free the mower, brush out dirt between body and chassis, check the body sits correctly, raise the cutting height, then restart |
| Charging station blocked | The mower failed to dock after several tries | Clear the docking path, level the ground under the station, clean the contact plates and check the power cable; on wire models the guide wire needs a 2 m straight run in front of the station |
| Reference station communication problem (EPOS) | The mower lost contact with its EPOS reference station | Check power, restart both units, mount the station at least 2 m high with open sky and within 100 m, move it away from metal, or reinstall it from the map in the app |
| Unable to create a docking point (EPOS) | The mower cannot fix a reliable docking point position | Drive the mower to open lawn until EPOS shows a green check, then retry; adjust the docking point distance, improve Wi-Fi, or move the station to a spot with more open sky |
Meanings and fixes from the error message articles on Husqvarna's Self Service support site, checked October 21, 2026. Message names vary a little between models and app versions, and older keypad models use the same names on their display.
If the same code comes back after the fix, contact Husqvarna support first, especially under warranty. Out of warranty, compare the repair quote with a new robot's price and 3 year cost.

How Automower error messages work
Husqvarna does not use number codes for Automower faults. The mower shows a short written message on its display, and connected models also send it to the Automower Connect app. Husqvarna's support site has a separate article for each message that lists the usual causes and fixes.
Older manuals, such as the one for the Automower 210 C, tied the same faults to a number of flashes on the indicator lamp. Newer models with a display or the app show the message name directly, so search for the exact wording you see.
Clearing an error and restarting
Some errors, like a pressed STOP button, a tilt or a collision, cannot be cleared from the app for safety reasons. Husqvarna says to remove the cause first, then restart at the mower.
- Remove the cause: lift the mower off the obstacle, clear the wheels or blade disc, or turn it upright.
- On jog wheel models such as NERA, press the jog wheel, press STOP, enter the PIN, choose the start symbol and pick a mode.
- On keypad models such as the 420, press STOP, enter the PIN and press OK, then press START and close the hatch.
- If the app shows Reset Error, tap it and restart the mower from the app.
- If the error keeps coming back, restart the mower fully. On keypad models, set the ON/OFF switch to off and back on.
No loop signal: read the station light first
On boundary wire models the charging station LED tells you where to look. Flashing blue means the loop is not complete, usually a cut wire or a loose end. Husqvarna suggests measuring the wire with a multimeter: about 0.8 ohm per 100 m is normal, and hundreds of ohms means a break. Off means the station has no power, and solid red means a power supply or board fault.
Solid green means the station is sending a signal the mower cannot hear. Keep the whole lawn within 35 m of the wire (15 m on the Aspire R4), keep the total wire under 800 m, and move it away from metal and buried cables. After repairs, create a new loop signal under Settings, Security in the app. Flashing green means ECO mode has turned the signal off, so start the mower from the station.
Errors caused by grass height and slopes
Trapped, Lifted, Cutting system blocked and Collision sensor problem are often caused by grass that is too tall. Husqvarna's limits are 4 cm for the Aspire R4 and 105, 6 cm for models like the 308V, 312V and the 405XE and 410XE NERA, and 10 cm for most other models, including the 430X and 450X.
Upside down and Cutting system blocked can also mean a slope is steeper than the mower is rated for. Keep those slopes out of the work area with a stay out zone on EPOS models, or with an island or a moved wire on boundary wire models.
When to contact a dealer
Husqvarna sends owners to a local dealer when an error keeps returning after the fixes above, when the station shows solid red after a 30 second power cut, when the EPOS reference station keeps flashing red, or when a lift alarm has gone on so long that water may have damaged the sensors.

Questions people ask
How do I clear an error on a Husqvarna Automower?
Fix the cause first. Then press STOP on the mower, enter your PIN and start it again. If the app shows Reset Error, you can tap it and restart from the app.
Why does my Automower say Outside work area?
Husqvarna lists four causes: the wire is too close to a slope or obstacle, the wire is on the wrong pin at the station, the wire runs the wrong way around an island, or on EPOS models the virtual boundary is too close to a slope.
What does No loop signal mean on an Automower?
The mower cannot detect the boundary wire signal. Check the charging station LED. Flashing blue usually means a broken wire or loose connection, off means no power, and solid green means a range or interference problem.
Why does my Automower keep saying Trapped?
It has hit obstacles or the boundary several times in a short time. Clear the area, fence off spots where it always gets stuck, widen narrow passages, and keep the grass under your model's height limit.
Why does my Automower say Lifted when nobody touched it?
Tall grass, roots, gravel, slopes near the boundary, debris between the body and chassis, or a loose body can all trigger the lift sensor. Clean the mower, press each corner of the body firmly into place and raise the cutting height.
