Mammotion LUBA won't connect to the app: causes and fixes

A Mammotion LUBA that won't connect to the app is usually on a 5 GHz WiFi network, too far from the router or phone, missing app permissions, or needs its key reseated. Here are the fixes from Mammotion's help center and user manual.

Short answer

Turn LUBA off, unplug the key, plug it back in, turn it on and restart the app. For WiFi, LUBA only works on 2.4 GHz, so check your router band, move LUBA closer, or try a phone hotspot. For Bluetooth, stay within 10 ft (3 m) and allow Bluetooth, Location and local network access. If it still will not connect, a factory reset helps but erases the map.

1. Reseat the key and restart

Mammotion's first fix for both Bluetooth and WiFi problems is the key at the back of LUBA. Turn LUBA off, unplug the key, plug it back in and turn LUBA on. Then close and reopen the app and try again.

2. Fix Bluetooth

Keep your phone within 10 ft (3 m) of the mower during setup, and allow the app Bluetooth, Location and local network access. To check whether LUBA itself is broadcasting:

  • Android: open Settings, Bluetooth, turn LUBA on and look for a device named Luba.
  • iPhone: install BLE Scanner from the App Store, go to Menu, Filter, enter Luba and turn the filter on, then look for Luba on the main screen.
  • If Luba shows in the list, Mammotion says the problem is likely not the mower, so look at the phone or app.

3. Fix WiFi and 4G

LUBA only connects to 2.4 GHz WiFi. Confirm your router broadcasts 2.4 GHz, not just 5 GHz. Move LUBA closer to the router, since distance and walls block the link, and do firmware updates near it. Try your phone's hotspot to rule out the router. If LUBA will not join either network, remove and reinsert the key.

On 4G models such as LUBA mini 2 AWD, the built in SIM activates on its own. If it did not, go to Status Bar, 4G Status, Activate in the app. Mammotion still recommends WiFi for best performance.

4. Know which link you need

Mammotion says Bluetooth alone is enough to draw or edit the map, make no go zones and channels, and drive LUBA by hand. WiFi or 4G is needed to check status remotely, start, pause or end a job, send LUBA to recharge and change settings away from the mower. Setup, log uploads and firmware updates need both Bluetooth and WiFi.

5. Factory reset and support

If LUBA turns on but still will not connect, try a factory reset. Hold Home, Grass and START together, then also hold Power for more than 5 seconds. Release when LUBA beeps continuously; the side LEDs stay on for up to a minute. The reset erases your map, so you will need to map again. If it works, send a log from the app to Mammotion support under Settings, Upload Logs.

If nothing works, contact Mammotion support with your serial number and logs. A failed Bluetooth or WiFi module is a repair, not a reason to replace the mower. These fixes come from Mammotion's support pages; we do not test mowers hands on.

Questions people ask

Does Mammotion LUBA work with 5 GHz WiFi?

No. Mammotion says LUBA only works on 2.4 GHz networks.

How do I reset LUBA when it will not connect?

Hold Home, Grass and START, then also hold Power for over 5 seconds until it beeps. This erases the map.

Do I need WiFi to use LUBA?

Bluetooth is enough for mapping, no go zones and manual driving. WiFi or 4G is needed for remote control, and both are needed for setup and firmware updates.

Why won't my LUBA 4G activate?

If the built in SIM did not activate during pairing, go to Status Bar, 4G Status, Activate in the app.

What is the key on a Mammotion LUBA for?

It is a removable security key at the rear. Reseating it is Mammotion's first fix for Bluetooth and WiFi problems.
