Researched by Riley Hart · updated Nov 2, 2026
Is the Aiper IrriSense 2 worth it? IrriSense 2 is the easiest way to get zoned, weather aware watering without digging an in ground system, and three reviewers set it up in about 15 minutes. It costs $400 as of Nov 4, 2026, and Bob Vila scored it 4.9/5.
IrriSense 2 is the easiest way to get zoned, weather aware watering without digging an in ground system, and three reviewers set it up in about 15 minutes. It needs a nearby outlet, strong Wi-Fi and good water pressure, and coverage can be uneven in the middle distance, so skip it if your tap is far from power or pressure is low.
Best for: zoned watering without digging. Skip if: you have low water pressure or no outlet near the tap.

- Up to 10 custom zones from one unit
- Skips watering for rain and wind
- 2 year warranty
Cons

- Mapping odd shaped yards takes trial and error
- Uneven coverage in the middle distance without tuning
- Delivered under half the set depth in cup tests
What independent reviewers found
- Set up in about 15 minutes and reliably ran twice daily schedules across two zones in a Florida yard for several weeks, skipping after rain and pausing on windy days.
- Bob Vila · 4.9/5
- Setup took about 12 minutes versus Aiper's 15 minute claim; it skipped several cycles in rain without input, but overlapping boundary points in the app caused mapping errors. Editors' Choice.
- Digital Trends
- Spray reached about 45 ft on strong municipal pressure in a 43 ft yard; the middle distance got less water until the reviewer added a second pass, a fix that took about 20 minutes.
- Home Technology Review
- Cup tests over three runs averaged 76 percent distribution uniformity, but it delivered less than half the depth set in the app; wind gusts tripped the rain sensor. Judged far better than the OtO it was tested against.
