Solar surface skimmer with plug-in backup charging and a remote
Researched by Riley Hart · updated Nov 3, 2026
Is the Betta SE Plus worth it? The SE Plus is a simple solar skimmer that clears leaves and bugs from the surface before they sink, and it won Bob Vila's best overall pick after two months of testing. It costs $390 as of Nov 4, 2026, and Bob Vila (tested) scored it 4.6/5.
The SE Plus is a simple solar skimmer that clears leaves and bugs from the surface before they sink, and it won Bob Vila's best overall pick after two months of testing. It adds plug-in charging to the SE for cloudy weeks, but has no app and only a 1 year warranty. Skip it if you need a robot that also cleans the floor and walls.
Best for: pools with lots of floating leaves. Skip if: you want app control or floor cleaning.

No. It is a surface skimmer. You still need a floor cleaning robot or vacuum for debris that sinks.
