The future of home and humanoid robots: a dated timeline of promises for 2026 to 2030

Companies have promised home humanoid deliveries in 2026 (1X, Weave, Flourish), public Optimus sales by late 2027 (Tesla) and Atlas factory work by 2028 and 2030 (Hyundai). As of October 18, 2026, no full size home humanoid has confirmed customer deliveries. These are promises, not products.

Short answer

The near future of home robots is a stack of promises. 1X says US NEO deliveries start in 2026. Weave and Flourish promise first shipments in fall and December 2026. Tesla says public Optimus sales could come by late 2027. Hyundai plans Atlas factory work in 2028 and 2030. What you can buy today are small humanoids for developers, robot pets and single task robots.

Every date in this table is a company promise or plan, compiled from maker pages and press reports listed below and checked October 18, 2026.

2026: the first home deliveries are promised

Three companies promise home robots with arms in 2026. 1X opened NEO preorders in October 2025. The Robot Report wrote that first orders would ship to US homes in 2026, with other markets from 2027. 1X sells NEO for $20,000 or $499 a month.

Weave says Isaac 1 first shipments begin in fall 2026, with California first and broader US availability through 2027. Flourish says its first 50 numbered units of Flourish 1 ship in December 2026. Sunday plans a beta for its Memo robot in late 2026 and says it will not sell Memo until after the beta.

SwitchBot said in January 2026 that onero H1 would cost under $10,000 and be available by the end of 2026, heise reported. Its product page now lists $9,999 but shows the robot as "Coming Soon." Figure CEO Brett Adcock told TIME in October 2025 that home autonomy in 2026 would be "a big push."

2027: wider sales are promised

Tesla has the most watched date. BGR reports Musk has said the public could buy Optimus by late 2027. Tesla expects to build more than 1,000 a week by the end of 2026. BGR also notes Musk sometimes misses production predictions. Tesla has no price and no preorder.

Boston Dynamics says it will add Atlas customers in early 2027, after its 2026 units go to Hyundai and Google DeepMind. LG plans a real world feasibility demonstration of its CLOiD home robot in 2027 and has not committed to a launch date. Clone Robotics told Humanoids Daily in April 2026 that it aims to show natural walking in 2027.

2028 to 2030: factory work first

The firmest plans for later this decade are for factories, not homes. Engadget reports Hyundai plans to use Atlas for parts sequencing in its car plants in 2028 and for component assembly by 2030. Just Auto reports Hyundai plans 25,000 Atlas robots across Hyundai and Kia plants over the next few years. Boston Dynamics says Hyundai's US investment includes a factory able to build 30,000 robots a year.

Clone Robotics' roadmap targets its first commercial "Robo Butler" products in 2028, starting in hotels rather than homes, and a $20,000 mass market price.

What is real right now

  • Small humanoids you can buy: Unitree sells the R1 from $4,900 and the G1 at $13,500, before tax and shipping. Both are developer robots, not chore helpers.
  • Robot pets: Sony aibo sells in the US for $2,899.99 with three years of cloud service, and Unitree's Go2 robot dog starts at $1,600.
  • Factory humanoids at work: Atlas robots are training on parts sequencing at Hyundai's Georgia Metaplant, Just Auto reported in September 2026.
  • Home humanoid deliveries: none confirmed. A July 2026 blog headline claimed NEO had shipped, but its own text described deliveries as planned.
  • US rules: on July 28, 2026 the FCC added new foreign made humanoid and quadruped robots to its Covered List. Tech Times reports already authorized models are not banned retroactively.

How to judge the hype

  • Is there a price and an order page? Tesla, Figure and LG have neither.
  • Is there a delivery date for your order, not just a year? 1X still lists only a year.
  • Has a reporter seen it work? TIME saw Figure 03 load a dishwasher but struggle to fold T shirts. CNET saw onero H1 take almost two minutes to move one item into a washer, Techinsider reported.
  • Who does the hard parts? 1X lets owners schedule a remote 1X Expert. Weave uses teleoperation help when needed. Sunday says Memo needs no teleoperation in your home.
  • Has the company kept past dates? BGR notes Musk sometimes misses production predictions.
  • Is the deposit refundable? Weave refunds until shipping. 1X calls its deposit fully refundable.

A skeptical view worth hearing

Not everyone expects cheap home robots soon. Techinsider covered SwitchBot at IFA 2026. It wrote that home robots able to fold laundry are likely 5 to 10 years away and will cost closer to $100,000 than $10,000. That is an opinion, like the company promises above. The honest answer is that nobody knows yet.

Our advice for families: buy single task robots that ship today, and treat any general home robot as an experiment until independent reviewers test delivered units.
