LEGO Education ended sales of SPIKE Prime and SPIKE Essential, including the hubs, batteries and the Expansion Set, on June 30, 2026. The SPIKE app keeps getting fixes until 2031, so kits you already own keep working.
FIRST LEGO League teams can keep using SPIKE through the 2027 to 2028 season. LEGO points schools to its new Computer Science and AI kits, but it does not call them a direct replacement.

Questions parents ask
Does my SPIKE kit stop working?
No. LEGO says the SPIKE app keeps getting fixes until 2031, so the kits you own keep working. You just cannot buy new SPIKE sets or hubs from LEGO Education.
What is the easiest next kit after SPIKE?
A robot car or rover kit. It comes in one box, needs no soldering, and drives from an app as soon as it is built.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. The kits above work out of the box with an app. Coding is an optional next step.
