TO SCORE

Genesis XL covers four times the area of the standard FarmBot, so it suits schools, research plots and serious growers with a large raised bed. It costs $7,995, the v1.9 redesign is already on pre order at the same price, and we found no independent hands on review, so most buyers should wait or skip.
Best for: schools and large raised beds. Skip if: you want proven, reviewed hardware.

Questions buyers ask
Does FarmBot come with a garden bed?
No. You supply the raised bed, soil, garden hose and internet. The kit mounts its tracks on your bed.
Is FarmBot Express still sold?
No. FarmBot put the cheaper Express and Express XL kits on hold in May 2024; only Genesis and Genesis XL are offered.
Should I buy v1.8 or wait for v1.9?
Both XL versions list at $7,995. v1.8 ships now; v1.9 is a pre order that FarmBot says is about 20 percent lighter with a simpler watering and camera setup.
