Segway Navimow lost RTK signal or poor positioning: causes and fixes

A Navimow that loses RTK signal or shows Poor positioning usually has an antenna or charging station too close to walls, trees or roofs, old firmware, weak WiFi or 4G for Network RTK, or a damaged antenna cable. Here are the fixes from Segway Navimow's support articles.

Short answer

Move the RTK antenna and charging station at least 6.6 ft from walls, trees, houses and fences, with more than 110 degrees of open sky. Update the firmware with the mower docked and above 20% battery. If you use Network RTK, pick WiFi only or 4G only, whichever is stronger, and check coverage for your postcode. Use the Satellite Signal Analyzer in the app to find a better spot.

We read every question. When several owners ask the same thing, the answer goes on this page.

1. Restart and update

Turn the mower off, place it on the charging station for a short charge, close the app and reopen it. Then update firmware under Settings, Mower, Device Management, Firmware Version. Navimow's conditions for an update are: mower on the station, battery at least 20%, no mowing scheduled in the next hour, and a stable internet connection. Navimow names outdated firmware as a common cause of weak positioning.

2. Move the antenna and charging station

On RTK setups, both the antenna and the charging station act as references, and they must see the same satellites as the mower. Navimow's placement rules:

  • Antenna: at least 6.6 ft from walls, dense trees, houses and fences, with more than 110 degrees of clear sky. On a small lawn, mount it on a roof or wall.
  • Charging station: at least 6.6 ft from trees, walls and houses, not in shade, on flat ground, with 1.6 ft clear on each side and 6.5 ft in front.
  • Keep the station away from generators and substations.
  • Use Settings, Satellite Signal Analyzer. Blue dots are satellites seen by both mower and antenna. Orange dots are seen by the antenna only. Move toward more blue.

3. Network RTK and connectivity

Network RTK uses an internet correction service instead of a local antenna, and Navimow says it is not available everywhere yet. Enter your postcode on the Network RTK page. If there is no coverage, install the included antenna and switch to RTK. The map does not need redrawing when you switch.

Weak WiFi or 4G does not weaken GPS itself, but it delays map loading and can cut NRTK correction data. In Network Settings, choose WiFi only or 4G only, whichever is stronger, instead of auto switching. A better router, a mesh system or an extender helps large yards.

4. Check the antenna cable

Pets can fray the antenna cable, and extension cable joints can loosen or fill with debris. Unplug the joints, clean them and reconnect. Replace a damaged antenna cable. Navimow also sells a Signal Enhancement Antenna and an Antenna Mounting Kit as accessories for hard to reach spots.

5. When to contact support

If the signal is still poor after moving the antenna and station, updating firmware and fixing the network, contact Navimow at [email protected]. Error 4006 or 5001 points to the GPS module or antenna, which is a support case. These fixes come from Navimow's support pages; we do not test mowers hands on.

If your whole yard sits under heavy tree cover, satellite positioning will always struggle. In that case a model that leans on vision or LiDAR, or a wire guided mower, may suit the lawn better.

Questions people ask

What does Poor positioning. Scheduled mowing delayed. mean on Navimow?

The mower cannot get accurate satellite positioning, most often because the charging station or antenna is near walls, trees or roofs. Move them to open sky.

Where should I put the Navimow RTK antenna?

At least 6.6 ft from walls, dense trees, houses and fences, with more than 110 degrees of open sky. A roof or wall mount works on small lawns.

Does weak WiFi affect Navimow positioning?

Not GPS directly, but it delays map loading and can interrupt Network RTK correction data. Choose the stronger of WiFi only or 4G only.

Do I need to redraw the map when switching from Network RTK to RTK?

No. Navimow says the map is kept, though the switch can take a few minutes.

What do the blue and orange dots in the Satellite Signal Analyzer mean?

Blue satellites are seen by both mower and antenna. Orange ones are seen only by the antenna.
