Roborock won't charge: causes and fixes
A Roborock that won't charge usually has a dock with no power, dirty charging contacts, or a battery outside its safe temperature range. Here are the fixes from Roborock's manuals and support pages, matched to what you see.
Researched by Riley Hart · updated Oct 27, 2026 · How we research
Most Roborocks that won't charge have a dock that is not getting power or dirty charging contacts on the robot or dock. Check the dock's power indicator is on and both ends of the power cable are pushed in, then wipe the contacts with a dry cloth. Roborock also says the robot only charges properly between 39 and 104 degrees F (4 to 40 C). Error 13 means a charging contact problem; Error 14 means a battery fault, which needs Roborock support.
| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Dock indicator off | Dock has no power | Push both ends of the dock power cable in firmly and check the indicator lights up |
| Error 13 | Charging error, contacts not connecting | Clean the charging contacts on the robot and dock, then retry |
| Robot on dock, not charging | Poor contact between robot and dock | Clean the contact areas on the dock and robot and reseat the robot |
| Charging very slowly | Battery too hot or cold, or dirty contacts | Move it to a room between 39 and 104 F; wipe the contacts with a dry cloth |
| Will not power on | Battery too low | Charge it on the dock before use |
| Error 12 | Battery too low to clean | Recharge, then try again |
| Error 14 | Battery error | Roborock lists no home fix; contact Roborock support |
| Cannot find the dock, Error 23 | Dock badly placed or its signal area dirty | Put the dock against a wall with 0.5 m clear each side and 1.5 m in front; clean its signal area and the robot's front sensor |
| Dock tips or robot misses it | Dock on carpet or uneven floor | Place the dock on a flat, hard floor |
| Brand new robot never charges | Owner fix: battery connector loose from shipping | Owner fix: iFixit owners report reseating the battery inside; check with Roborock first if under warranty |
From Roborock's robot vacuum user manual on its support site, the Q5 Pro+ and Q Revo manuals, the S8 Pro Ultra manual and Roborock's dock article, checked October 27, 2026. The last row is an owner report from iFixit's Roborock Q5 wiki.
If the same code comes back after the fix, contact Roborock support first, especially under warranty. Out of warranty, compare the repair quote with a new robot's price and 3 year cost.

Step by step checks, in order
Roborock's common issues tables give the same order across the Q5, Q Revo and S series. Work through it before you buy parts.
- Check the dock's power indicator is lit. If not, push both ends of the power cable in firmly.
- Wipe the charging contacts on the dock and on the underside of the robot with a dry cloth.
- Put the dock on a flat, hard floor, not carpet, against a wall with about 0.5 m clear on each side and 1.5 m clear in front.
- Set the robot on the dock by hand so its contacts meet the dock contacts, and watch for the charging indicator.
- Check the room temperature. Roborock says to use the robot between 39 and 104 F (4 to 40 C) and that it slows charging when hot or cold to protect the battery.
- Restart the robot, then try again.
What the lights and errors mean
On the S8 Pro Ultra, Roborock's manual says the power indicator is white at 20 percent or more, red under 20 percent, and pulses while charging. A robot that is too low will not start a clean, so give it time on the dock first.
Error 13 is a charging error, and Roborock's fix is to clean the charging contacts and retry. Error 12 just means the battery is low. Error 14 is a battery error with no home fix in Roborock's list. Error 22 and 23 are about finding the dock, so clean the dock's signal area and the robot's front sensor. Our Roborock error codes page has the full list.
When to replace a part
If the dock indicator never lights with a known good outlet, the dock power cable or the dock itself is the likely fault. If the dock has power, the contacts are clean and the robot still will not charge, the battery is the next suspect.
Owner fix: iFixit's Roborock S5 wiki says a robot with a powered dock and clean contacts that still will not charge probably needs a new battery, and links a battery replacement guide. In a Roborock forum thread on Error 13, owners who cleaned contacts, swapped the filter and did factory resets still had the error, and Roborock support pointed to the motherboard. So a battery is not always the answer; ask support before you buy one.
When to contact Roborock support or use the warranty
Contact Roborock for Error 14, for Error 13 that stays after cleaning the contacts, or for a dock that will not power on. In the US, Roborock lists [email protected] and 1 855 960 4321. Roborock's US warranty covers new robots for one year from purchase, and six months for certified refurbished units from Roborock's stores. You need proof of purchase. Damage from liquid, power surges or wrong voltage, and repairs by anyone other than Roborock, are not covered.
When a new robot makes more sense
A new battery or dock is usually worth it on a robot you are happy with. If support confirms a main board fault on an older robot that is out of warranty, compare the repair quote with a current model in our robot vacuum rankings first.
Questions people ask
Why is my Roborock not charging on the dock?
Usually the dock has no power or the contacts are dirty. Check the dock indicator is on, push the cable in at both ends, and wipe the contacts on the robot and dock with a dry cloth.
What does Roborock Error 13 mean?
It is a charging error. Roborock says to clean the charging contacts and try again. If it keeps coming back, contact Roborock support.
Why is my Roborock charging so slowly?
Roborock says it slows charging in hot or cold rooms to protect the battery, and dirty contacts can slow it too. Keep it between 39 and 104 F and wipe the contacts.
Should I unplug the Roborock dock when the robot is full?
No need. Roborock's manuals say the robot keeps drawing a small amount of power on the dock to keep the battery healthy, and that this is normal.
How long is the Roborock warranty in the US?
One year from purchase for new robots, and six months for certified refurbished units from Roborock's official stores.
