TP-Link Tapo RV30 Max Plus
Cheap LiDAR robot with a bagged auto empty dock
Researched by Riley Hart · updated Oct 16, 2026
It was $71 cheaper ($179) during the Presidents Day 2026 sale at Amazon. Black Friday is Nov 27, 2026, 31 days away, and big sales usually return then. Get a price drop alert or see every tracked deal.
One of the cheapest ways to get LiDAR mapping and an auto empty dock, and reviewers agree it cleans better than its price suggests on everyday debris. Pet owners with carpet should expect weaker hair pickup, and the basic pad mop needs hand washing. Skip it if your floors are cluttered, since it has no camera to spot small objects.
Best for: hard floor homes on a tight budget. Skip if: you have heavy pet hair on carpet.

Parts and refills for the RV30 Max Plus
- Disposable dust bags, 5 pack (Tapo RVA202)
unit price $19.99 per 5 pack; Tapo says each 3 L bag lasts up to 60 days, so 3 years needs about 18 bags, or 4 packs; this is a best case figure because heavy use fills bags sooner (source: Tapo US store, Tapo product page) - Shop on Amazon →

What independent reviewers found
- Picked up 98.6% of cereal on hardwood and 99.7% on carpet, but only 67.8% of pet hair on carpet; mopping is basic and the pad needs manual cleaning.
- Tom's Guide
- Called it an excellent budget robot with precise mapping and better than expected mopping; obstacle detection was the weakest area, with frequent bumps.
- nextpit · 4.5/5
- Strong carpet suction and a sealed bag dock that lasted longer than claimed; mopping only handles light messes and it can get stuck on stray cables.
- Blacktubi · 8.6/10

Questions buyers ask
How often do I change the dust bag?
Tapo says each 3 L bag lasts up to 60 days. A 5 pack costs $19.99 on the Tapo US store.
Does it wash its own mop?
No. It uses a clip on pad with a 300 ml tank that you rinse by hand; the dock only empties dust and charges.
Is it good for pet hair?
On hard floors yes, but Tom's Guide measured only 67.8% pet hair pickup on carpet.
