The three kinds of robot mop
Basic pads are a wet cloth dragged behind the robot. They pick up light dust and footprints but do not scrub, and you wash the pad yourself. Most robots under $400 use one.
Spinning pads are two round pads that rotate and press down. They scrub better, and the best ones swing out to reach edges. The dock washes and dries them.
Roller mops are a long cylinder that spins and is rinsed with clean water as it cleans, so it does not smear dirty water around. Reviewers often rate rollers best for sticky spots and edges. Ecovacs, Roborock, Eufy, Narwal and iRobot all sell one now.
How we ranked them
We ranked the 22 robots on our floor list that mop by what the dock does for you (wash, dry, refill, detergent), how the mop handles carpet, and price. A mop that cannot lift will either skip your rugs or wet them.
We did not run our own trials. Specs are from the makers, and performance notes come from Vacuum Wars, Tom's Guide, TechRadar, Gizmodo and Techaeris.
Best value: Narwal Freo Z10 Turbo ($549.99)
The Freo Z10 Turbo is the cheapest robot on our list with a full mop washing dock. It washes its dual spinning pads with 113 to 167°F water, dries them with hot air and doses detergent on its own. The right pad extends to within 5 mm of edges, and both lift 12 mm on carpet. Its dust bag is rated for up to 120 days.
Techaeris found it can miss flat objects under 2 cm such as cords, and that the brush sometimes needs manual cleaning. A plumbed water kit costs $199.99 extra.
Best roller mop: Ecovacs Deebot T80S Omni ($649.99)
The T80S Omni has the OZMO Roller 2.0 at 220 RPM with TruEdge edge extension, and lifts 15 mm on carpet. The dock washes the roller with water up to 167°F, dries it at 145°F, and refills and drains on its own.
It is also a strong vacuum: Vacuum Wars measured 2.44 kPa sealed suction and 100% flattened pet hair pickup. It lacks automatic detergent dosing; step up to the T90 Pro Omni ($799.99) for that.
Best premium: Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete ($1,699.99)
The X60 has dual spinning pads that extend and lift, press with up to 15 N and are warmed to 104°F while mopping. The dock washes them with 212°F water, dries with hot air and doses from two detergent tanks. Vacuum Wars scored it 22 of 24 on obstacles.
If you prefer a roller, the Eufy Omni S2 ($1,599.99) lifts its roller 28 mm on carpet, the highest on our list, and avoided 24 of 24 objects.
Best under $300: TP-Link Tapo RV30 Max Plus ($249.99)
The Tapo is the best cheap combo because it pairs a clip on mop with a self emptying vacuum dock and LiDAR mapping. Its 300 ml tank has three water levels.
Know the limits: the pad does not lift, so it avoids carpet while mopping, and you rinse the pad by hand after each run. Treat it as a daily dust mop, not a scrubber.
Which to skip
The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow ($999.99) has a good roller, but Gizmodo found it struggles in corners and along walls, it has no mop only mode and no detergent tank. The Shark PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro ($599.99) washes its pad but uses unheated water and you cannot set the water level in the app.
The SwitchBot K11+ only takes disposable wet wipes, which TechRadar found weak. Do not buy it to mop.

Questions people ask
What is the best robot vacuum and mop combo?
The Narwal Freo Z10 Turbo at $549.99 for value, the Ecovacs Deebot T80S Omni at $649.99 for a roller mop, and the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete at $1,699.99 for premium.
Are roller mops better than spinning pads?
Reviewers often rate rollers better for sticky spots and edges because they rinse with clean water as they go. Good spinning pads scrub well too and cost less.
Do robot mops really clean floors?
Models with spinning pads or rollers and a washing dock handle daily dirt and light spills. They do not replace a deep scrub for dried on stains.
Will a robot mop wet my rugs?
Not if it lifts its mop. Most combos above $500 lift 10 to 28 mm. Budget pads like the Tapo RV30 Max Plus and Dreame D20 Plus do not lift.
What is the cheapest robot that washes its own mop?
