All pickup, wrap and obstacle numbers are from Vacuum Wars reviews. Vacuum Wars compares each robot against its own running average, which has changed over time, so treat small gaps (88% vs 89%) as a tie. Prices are the lowest non Amazon store price we found on October 23, 2026.

How we ranked them

Pet hair is two problems. The robot has to lift hair out of carpet, and the brush has to avoid wrapping long hair, which you would otherwise cut free with scissors. We ranked every robot vacuum on our list by the flattened pet hair pickup and hair wrap numbers Vacuum Wars measured, then used obstacle avoidance and price to break ties.

We did not run our own trials. Vacuum Wars uses the same hair tests across robots, which makes its numbers easier to compare than maker claims like suction in Pa. Where Vacuum Wars has no number, we use RTINGS, Tom's Guide or TechHive and say so.

Best overall for pets: Ecovacs Deebot T80S Omni ($649.99)

The T80S Omni gives you top level hair results for less than the flagships. Vacuum Wars measured 100% flattened pet hair pickup and 0% hair wrap with the ZeroTangle 3.0 brush. Its sealed suction measured 2.44 kPa, far above the 0.99 kPa average, which helps pull hair out of rugs.

It also avoided 21 of 24 test objects, which matters if your pet leaves toys around. The dock empties into a 3 liter bag Ecovacs rates for up to 90 days, and washes the roller mop with water up to 167°F.

It does not dose detergent automatically. If you want that, the T90 Pro Omni at $799.99 has the same hair results and avoided 23 of 24 objects.

Best budget pick: Dreame D20 Plus ($309.99)

The D20 Plus is the only robot near $300 with strong measured hair results: 91% flattened pet hair pickup against an 82.2% average, and 0% long hair wrap. Its 5 liter dock bag is rated for up to 150 days, which is helpful in a shedding home.

The tradeoff is that it avoided 0 of 24 obstacles. Pick up toys, socks and cables before every run. Never run any robot without obstacle avoidance if your pet has accidents indoors.

Best bagless: Ecovacs Deebot X12 OmniCyclone ($899.99)

Some pet owners would rather not buy bags. The X12 OmniCyclone uses a bagless cyclone dock with a 1.6 liter bin that Ecovacs rates for up to 48 days. Vacuum Wars measured 100% flattened pet hair pickup and 0% wrap, and scored it 23 of 24 on obstacles.

Gizmodo and BGR saw it struggle with cables and small items, so results vary by home. The newer X12S OmniCyclone costs $1,299.99 and adds a hotter roller wash, but has no published lab hair number yet.

Best premium: Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete ($1,699.99)

If budget is not a concern, the X60 Max Ultra Complete measured 100% flattened pet hair pickup on carpet, 0% hair wrap and avoided 22 of 24 objects with two AI cameras. Its dock washes the pads with 212°F water and doses two detergents.

The Eufy Omni S2 ($1,599.99) is the alternative if pet messes are the worry. It scored a perfect 24 of 24 on obstacles, though its hair pickup measured 88.5%.

Robots to skip with pets

The iRobot Roomba 105 Vac measured 29% flattened pet hair pickup and 79% hair wrap in Vacuum Wars testing. The Roborock Q7 M5+ measured 79% with 43% wrap. RTINGS rates the Shark AI Ultra bad at pet hair on low pile carpet because its brush presses hair into the fibers.

Hair wrap is the key number to check. A robot that picks up hair but wraps it means you clean the brush every few days.

Tips for pet homes

Pick a dock with a big bag or bin. Pet hair fills a robot's onboard bin fast, and a self empty dock is the difference between a robot that runs daily and one that stops half way.

Run it daily on a schedule rather than weekly. Short daily runs keep hair from matting into carpet. Check the brush and filter once a week, and replace filters on the maker's schedule.
