Short answer

As of October 26, 2026, the TP-Link Tapo RV30 Max Plus ($249.99) is the best all round robot vacuum under $300: it has a 60 day self empty bag, LiDAR mapping and a clip on mop. The Roborock Q7 M5+ ($249.99) has the strongest sealed suction in this group. For pet hair, the Dreame D20 Plus ($309.99) is worth the extra $10. The Eufy 11S Max ($279.99) is simple and slim, but you empty it by hand and the eufy store showed it out of stock. The Roomba 105 Vac + AutoEmpty is no longer under $300: iRobot lists it at $449.99.

Prices are the lowest store price we found on October 26, 2026, not Amazon. Suction and bag life are maker claims unless a reviewer is named. Pet hair numbers come from Vacuum Wars, Tom's Guide and TechHive.

How we ranked them

We looked at every robot vacuum on our floor list priced near or under $300, then ranked them on four things that matter most at this price: whether the dock empties the robot for you, how well it picks up hair, whether it mops at all, and how much suction reviewers actually measured.

We did not run our own trials. Specs come from the makers. Pickup and suction numbers come from Vacuum Wars, Tom's Guide, TechRadar, TechHive and RTINGS, and we name the reviewer next to each number so you can check it.

Prices are the lowest price we found at the maker store or another retailer on October 23, 2026. Budget robots go on sale often, so a model listed at $279.99 here can drop under $200 during holiday sales.

Best overall: TP-Link Tapo RV30 Max Plus ($249.99)

The Tapo RV30 Max Plus gets the most features for the money. It has LiDAR mapping, so it cleans in straight rows and lets you set no go zones in the app. The dock empties the bin into a 3 liter sealed bag that Tapo rates for up to 60 days. It also has a clip on mop pad with a 300 ml tank and three water levels.

The weak spots are carpet and clutter. Tom's Guide gave it a pet hair score of 80.6 but saw only 67.8% pickup on carpet. It has no camera, so nextpit and Blacktubi found it bumps into objects and can get stuck on cables. The mop has no lift, so it avoids carpet while mopping instead of crossing it.

Buy it if your home is mostly hard floors and you pick up cords before a run.

Best for pet hair: Dreame D20 Plus ($309.99)

The D20 Plus costs $10 more than our cap, but it is the best budget pick for pet owners. Vacuum Wars measured 91% flattened pet hair pickup against an 82.2% average, with 0% long hair wrapping the brush. That matters because hair wrap is the chore most budget robots hand back to you.

Its 5 liter dock bag is rated for up to 150 days, the longest in this group. It also has a flat mop pad with a 350 ml tank and 32 water levels.

The catch is obstacles. Vacuum Wars recorded 0 of 24 obstacles avoided, so socks, cables and pet toys need to be off the floor. Its sealed suction measured 0.53 kPa, below average, though airflow was above average at 18 CFM.

Strongest suction: Roborock Q7 M5+ ($249.99)

Roborock claims 10,000 Pa, and Vacuum Wars measured 2.24 kPa of sealed suction against a 0.83 kPa average. That is the strongest measured suction in this price group, which helps on rugs and for fine debris.

It self empties into a 2.7 liter bag that Roborock rates for up to 7 weeks. The mop is a fixed pad with three water levels and no lift.

Hair is the weak point: Vacuum Wars measured 79% flattened pet hair pickup and 43% of long hair wrapping the brush. TechRadar saw it hit every test object, since it has no front obstacle sensor.

Simplest option: Eufy 11S Max ($279.99)

The 11S Max is slim, quiet and has BoostIQ, which raises suction on carpet up to 2,000 Pa. TechHive found it picked up pet hair well, though we found no measured pet hair test. It was $169.99 on October 23, but on October 26 the eufy store listed it at $279.99 and showed it out of stock, so check Amazon for a lower price before you buy.

There is no self empty dock, no mopping and no mapping. You empty a small bin by hand, often daily with pets, and it cleans in a random pattern. The Ambient found it chokes on cables and wedges between chairs.

Which to skip

The iRobot Roomba 105 Vac + AutoEmpty has a well known name and a 75 day bag, but it is no longer a budget pick: the iRobot store listed it at $449.99 on October 26, 2026, up from $279.99 three days earlier. Vacuum Wars also measured only 29% flattened pet hair pickup against an 81% average, and 79% of long hair wrapped the brush. It does not mop.

The Shark AI Ultra (AV2501S) often shows up in budget lists, but RTINGS rates it bad at pet hair on low pile carpet and Vacuum Wars called the AI in its name mostly marketing. We do not have a store price for it right now.

What you give up under $300

Budget robots skip the expensive parts: camera based obstacle avoidance, mop washing docks and mop lifting. If you want a robot that dodges socks and washes its own mop, the cheapest full dock on our list is the Narwal Freo Z10 Turbo at $549.99. See our guide to the best robot vacuum mop combo for those.
