Quick verdict · checked Oct 23, 2026

The best known way to get strong suction, LiDAR mapping and a bagged auto empty dock for about $250. RTINGS named the Q7 M5 its best budget robot vacuum, and testers agree it cleans hard floors and carpet well. Long hair still wraps the brush, the mop is basic, and it has no front sensor, so pick up cables first.

Best for: mixed floor homes that want auto empty on a budget. Skip if: your floors are often covered in cables, socks or toys.

What independent reviewers found

Tested the Q7 M5 robot without the dock: 93.3% overall pickup on tile and 85% on carpet, with 70% of pet and human hair on carpet. Human hair caught on the brush roll and the mop only handled light dirt.
Tom's Guide
Called the Q7 M5 a brilliant budget bot with accurate mapping and strong pet hair pickup, but it hit every test object, long hair still wrapped the brush and the app had several glitches. Subscores: Value 4/5, Performance 4/5, App 3.5/5.
TechRadar
Above average suction and navigation speed, but average results on embedded sand (75%) and flattened pet hair (79%), 43% hair wrap, and heavy water use when mopping.

Named the Q7 M5 the best budget robot vacuum it has tested, citing strong cleaning performance and useful app features.

Questions buyers ask

How often do I change the dust bag?

Roborock says each 2.7 L bag lasts up to 7 weeks. A 6 pack is $31.99 at regular price on the Roborock US store.

Will it mop my rugs?

It can, because the pad does not lift. Vacuum Wars and TechRadar suggest removing the pad or setting no mop zones over carpet.

Does it avoid cables and socks?

No. It has LiDAR for mapping but no front obstacle sensor, so clear small items before a run.

Does it work on 5 GHz Wi-Fi?

No. The Amazon listing says the app supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
