Best overall: Living AI Emo

Emo is a small robot that lives on a desk. It walks, dances, reacts to faces and answers casual questions. KEYi Tech's EMO FAQ lists it at $279, or $369 for the Go Home version with a station so it can charge itself. The same FAQ says there is no subscription and rates it 6 and up as a pet companion.

The catch is battery life. The FAQ puts it at about 2 hours of continuous use. Living AI also ships from the factory, so order early for the holidays.

Budget pick: Eilik for $139.99

Eilik is $139.99 on Energize Lab's store, down from $149.99. It reacts to touch and being picked up, plays animations and works with no WiFi or internet. It lasts about 1.5 hours a charge and comes with a 90 day warranty. It stays in place and does not chat, so it is a charming toy, not an assistant.

For an older relative, the Joy for All Companion Pet Cat is $159.99. It purrs and meows when stroked and runs on 4 C batteries that come in the box.

Wow factor: a 3D printer or a robot vacuum

The Bambu Lab A1 mini surprises people. Best Buy lists it at $219.99 with WiFi, a built in camera and a 180 mm build cube. Makers101 says it is ready to print in about 15 minutes and suits a kid or teen. Its small size is the main limit; the full size Bambu Lab A1 is $299.

The Roborock Q7 M5+ is the gift that gets used every day. Tom's Guide called the Q7 M5 a great cleaner for the price, with excellent suction and deep carpet cleaning, but said the mop is only for light cleaning and hair tangles in the brush. The plus model adds an auto empty dock.

Ages and safety

  • Emo is rated 6 and up as a pet, per KEYi's FAQ. Miko 3 is made for kids 5 to 10.
  • 3D printers have a hot nozzle and heated bed. Keep them on a stable desk and supervise kids.
  • Robot vacuums can pull on cords and small toys. Pick up floors before the first run.
  • Window robots hang on glass. EFTM found the Mova N1 lost grip on frameless glass, and the safety tether caught it.

What to avoid and subscriptions

  • Emo, Eilik, Ropet, the Bambu printers and the Joy for All cat need no subscription.
  • Miko 3's best content needs Miko Max, which costs extra each year.
  • Robot vacuums need dust bags; printers need filament. Both are small but ongoing costs.
  • Vector 2.0 is cheap on paper but needs a paid plan for voice, and its maker is in court receivership. We would skip it.

Prices drop around Black Friday: set a price alert

Black Friday is November 27, 2026, and the sale weekend runs through Cyber Monday on November 30. Smart Home Compared notes that most smart home discounts start landing in the weeks before, and that the best prices can sell out within hours. Ecovacs says makers often time promotions to Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas.

Prices already move a lot. During Amazon's October sale, Segway's Navimow i206 AWD mower fell from $999 to $849, and Segway matched that price on its own store, per 9to5Toys. That is $150 back on one gift.

So do not pay full price in early November unless stock is the worry. Open the robot's page on this site and set a price alert. We email you when the price drops, so you can buy on the right day instead of checking every store yourself.
