Bambu Lab X2D
Dual nozzle enclosed CoreXY that cuts multi color waste
Researched by Riley Hart · updated Nov 3, 2026
Is the Bambu Lab X2D worth it? The X2D is the dual nozzle successor to the X1 Carbon, with a heated chamber and better filtration. It costs $589 as of Nov 4, 2026, and 2 independent reviewers tested it.
The X2D is the dual nozzle successor to the X1 Carbon, with a heated chamber and better filtration. Tom's Hardware gave it an Editor's Choice and TechRadar found it reliable over 250 hours. The slower Bowden second nozzle is the main compromise.
Best for: makers who want two materials or colors with little waste and engineering filament support. Skip if: you mainly print soft TPU or want the fastest multi material printing (look at the H2D).
Specs
- Build volume
- 256 x 256 x 260 mm with one nozzle; height drops 4 mm when the second nozzle is used (TechRadar); Tom's Hardware lists 256 x 256 x 256 mm
- Print speed
- Up to 1,000 mm/s on the main direct drive head, 20,000 mm/s2 acceleration (Bambu Lab via Tom's Hardware); the Bowden auxiliary nozzle tops out at 200 mm/s (TechRadar)
- Multi color
- Yes, two nozzles plus AMS 2 Pro in the Combo, 4 to 16 colors with extra AMS units (Tom's Hardware); a two color zebra print purged only 11.5 g (Tom's Hardware)
- Enclosure
- Yes, fully enclosed with active chamber heating to 65 C and G3, H12 HEPA and carbon filters (TechRadar)
- Auto leveling
- Yes, automatic bed leveling (Tom's Hardware); first calibration took 30 to 40 minutes (TechRadar)
- Max nozzle temp
- 300 C, two 0.4 mm hardened steel nozzles (TechRadar)
- Heated bed
- Yes, up to 120 C, textured PEI plate (TechRadar)
- Filament types
- PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, ASA, PC, PA and fiber filled filaments (Tom's Hardware); soft TPU is poorly supported by the AMS and the auxiliary nozzle (Tom's Hardware)

No subscription. Two nozzles cut purge waste versus single nozzle multi color printers (Tom's Hardware saved about 101 g on one print). A 3 year total is not computed.

What independent reviewers found
- Editor's Choice. A calibration cube took 20 min 35 s on the main nozzle and 41 min 59 s on the auxiliary nozzle. A two color zebra herd took 13 h 54 min with 11.5 g of purge, saving about 101 g versus single nozzle printing. Extrusion force measured 8.5 kg.
- Tom's Hardware
- Over 250 hours of printing with only a couple of stops, mostly from plate debris. Average XY error 0.188 mm. Print quality tests scored 29/30. Swapping both nozzles took under 5 minutes.

Questions buyers ask
Does the X2D need the AMS for two colors?
No. Its two nozzles can print two filaments without an AMS. The Combo adds the AMS 2 Pro for 4 or more colors.
Can the X2D print TPU?
Stiff TPU works on the main nozzle. Tom's Hardware says the AMS only handles stiff TPU for AMS and the auxiliary nozzle is not recommended for TPU.
Is the Bambu Lab X2D sold on Amazon?
No. Bambu Lab sells through its own store and retailers such as Best Buy.
