As of October 28, 2026, the Ecovacs Deebot T80S Omni ($649.99) is the best robot vacuum for hardwood floors: Vacuum Wars found its roller mop left very little water behind, scored its mopping 30.5 against a 20.3 average, and measured 2.44 kPa of suction. The best budget pick is the Roborock Q10 S5+ ($329.99), which left only 0.5 g of water after mopping and lifts its pad 8 mm on rugs. For a premium hard floor robot, the Narwal Flow 2 ($1,299.99) picked up 100% of pet hair on hardwood in Tom's Guide testing. Avoid the Shark PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro on delicate wood, because reviewers found it leaves floors very wet.

How we ranked them
Hardwood is easy to vacuum and easy to damage. Almost any robot picks up crumbs from a smooth floor, so pickup alone does not separate them. The real risk is water. Hardwood Floors, a wood flooring trade magazine, warns that standing water can cause cupping, warping and finish damage, and tells owners not to wet mop wood.
So we ranked robot vacuums on our list mainly by how much water they leave behind and whether reviewers saw streaks, then by hard floor pickup, mop lift on rugs and price. We used measured numbers from Vacuum Wars and Tom's Guide where they exist. We did not run our own trials.
Best overall for hardwood: Ecovacs Deebot T80S Omni ($649.99)
The T80S Omni mops with a spinning roller that the dock rinses with water up to 167°F and dries with hot air. Vacuum Wars said it left very little water behind after mopping, and its combined mopping score of 30.5 was well above the 20.3 average. That light touch is what you want on sealed wood.
It is also a strong vacuum. Vacuum Wars measured 2.44 kPa of sealed suction, far above the 0.99 kPa average, plus 100% flattened pet hair pickup with no hair wrap. It avoided 21 of 24 test objects, so chair legs and shoes are less of a problem. CyberShack praised its close wall mopping.
Two limits: Ecovacs rates it for 20 mm thresholds, and it does not dose detergent on its own. If your rooms are split by tall wood thresholds, look at the premium pick.
Best budget pick: Roborock Q10 S5+ ($329.99)
The Q10 S5+ is the cheapest robot on our list with a measured low water result. Vacuum Wars found only 0.5 g of water left after mopping, and its dried stain score of 103 beat the 93 average. The VibraRise pad lifts 8 mm when it reaches a rug, so area rugs stay dry.
Vacuum Wars also measured 96% embedded sand and 96% pet hair pickup with no hair wrap. The dock empties dust into a 2.7 L bag rated for up to 7 weeks.
The dock does not wash or dry the pad, so rinse it by hand after mopping. A damp pad left in place is not good for wood. It also avoided only 6 of 24 obstacles, so tidy the floor first.
If you only need a vacuum, the TP-Link Tapo RV30 Max Plus ($249.99) is cheaper. Tom's Guide measured 98.6% cereal pickup on hardwood, though its clip on mop is basic and has no lift.
Best premium pick: Narwal Flow 2 ($1,299.99)
The Narwal Flow 2 is our pick for homes that are mostly hard floor. It uses a track style roller mop with 12 N of pressure and a dock that washes it at 212°F. Vacuum Wars retested it after a firmware update and put its mopping well above average. CGMagazine praised its mopping and obstacle avoidance in a 780 sq ft apartment.
On hardwood, Tom's Guide measured 100% pickup of both kitty litter and pet hair. The robot climbed 32 mm thresholds easily in Vacuum Wars testing, which helps in older homes with raised wood saddles.
Tom's Guide also found weak edge and corner cleaning and poor cereal pickup, and CGMagazine saw false leak warnings from the dock. If you want a bagless dock instead, the Ecovacs Deebot X12 OmniCyclone ($899.99) left floors streak free over three months of Vacuum Wars long term use.
Robots to avoid on wood floors
The Shark PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro is a good carpet robot, but TechRadar found it left too much water on wood floors, and you cannot set the water level in the app. We would not use it on site finished or older wood.
The iRobot Roomba Max 775 Combo picked up only 44% of hair on hardwood in Tom's Guide testing, scattered debris with its side brushes and left slight mop residue. The Roborock Q7 M5+ used heavy water when mopping in Vacuum Wars testing.
Tips for hardwood floors
Check your floor maker's care guide before you mop with any robot. Some unsealed, oiled or waxed floors should never be wet cleaned. For sealed floors, start on the lowest water setting and raise it only if floors stay dirty.
Use the maker's own floor cleaner in the detergent tank, or plain water if the floor maker says so. Avoid steam and harsh cleaners, which Hardwood Floors magazine says can harm the finish over time.
Set no mop zones around rugs if your robot cannot lift its mop high enough, and wipe up any spill the robot spreads. Run the vacuum often. Grit acts like sandpaper on a finish, and daily robot runs keep it off the floor.
