Robot lawn mower winter storage, brand by brand
Robot lawn mower winter storage takes about an hour: clean it, charge it to your maker's level, bring it and the station inside, and mark where everything sat. Here is what each brand actually says.
Researched by Riley Hart · updated Oct 15, 2026 · How we research
Store the mower indoors, dry and above freezing, charged to the level in your manual (most brands say 80% to full, never empty). Bring the charging station in unless your brand says otherwise, and mark where the station and any RTK antenna sat so your map still works in spring.
| Brand | Storage charge | Where to store | Charging station |
|---|---|---|---|
| Husqvarna | Full, then switch off | Indoors, above 32°F | Bring in (EPOS reference station can stay out, powered) |
| Segway Navimow | At least 85% | Indoors, 41 to 113°F | Bring in, mark its spot |
| Mammotion LUBA | About 80% | Indoors if below minus 4°F | Clean it; RTK station can stay out covered above minus 4°F |
| Ecovacs GOAT | Full, then power off | Indoors (battery stops below 32°F) | Bring dock and RTK head in, leave the pole |
| Worx Landroid Vision | 70 to 80% (Vision wiki) | Dry, frost free | Base can stay out unless extreme cold |
| Sunseeker | No S4 guidance; blog says 40 to 60% | Dry, frost free | Sheltered spot or optional S4 garage |
| Dreame, Mova, Airseekers | Not published | Not published | Not published |

Step by step: the steps every brand agrees on
- Stop mowing before the first hard frost. Husqvarna's Frost Guard parks the mower below 41°F (5°C), and Ecovacs says not to mow frosted lawns.
- Turn off schedules in the app so the mower does not try to leave the dock.
- Clean it dry or with a low pressure hose. Navimow and Mammotion both say never use a pressure washer.
- Check or replace blades. Husqvarna says fit new blades and screws before storage; Navimow advises a full blade set in autumn.
- Charge to the level your maker states, then switch it off. Never store it empty.
- Store it indoors, dry and above freezing, upright on its wheels.
- Mark where the charging station and any antenna sit, so the map still lines up in spring.
Battery: how full, and why it matters
Makers disagree on the charge level. Husqvarna and Ecovacs say store fully charged, Navimow says at least 85%, Mammotion about 80%, and the Worx Vision wiki 70 to 80%. Follow your own manual, since that is what the warranty is written against.
What every source agrees on: do not store it at 0%. Worx warns that a battery drained to zero can be damaged, and Navimow suggests checking the charge in mid January and topping up if it has dropped below 40%.
Never charge a frozen battery. Lithium ion cells should be charged between 32°F and 113°F (0 to 45°C); charging below freezing plates lithium on the anode, a permanent loss of capacity. If the mower has been in the cold, Navimow says wait 24 hours indoors before switching it on.
Charging station and RTK antenna
Husqvarna, Navimow and Ecovacs say bring the charging station inside. Worx says the Landroid base can stay out unless extreme cold is forecast. If a station must stay outside, Navimow says unplug it and cover it fully.
RTK stations differ more. Husqvarna recommends leaving the EPOS reference station outdoors and powered, which keeps your virtual boundaries. Mammotion says its RTK station can stay out under a cover if winter stays above minus 4°F (minus 20°C). Ecovacs says take the RTK head in and leave the pole. Navimow owners on network RTK have no antenna to deal with.
Moving a station or antenna to a new spot usually means remapping, so mark the position before you lift anything.
Brand by brand notes
- Husqvarna Automower 410 iQ: fit new blades and screws before storage. Dealer service and some Warranty Plus or Service Plus plans include winter storage; ask your dealer.
- Segway Navimow i206, i210 and X430: use Help and Feedback, Winter Storage, Begin Hibernating in the Navimow app before putting it away.
- Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD and LUBA mini 2 AWD: let it air dry at least 30 minutes before storing; a pole mounted RTK station that comes down means a new map in spring.
- Ecovacs GOAT A3000 LiDAR PRO: reinstall the RTK head on the same pole in exactly the same spot to avoid signal misalignment.
- Worx Landroid Vision Cloud: turn off the app lock first, because Worx says it triggers after 72 hours without Wi Fi. Worx's two support pages disagree on charge level, so check your manual.
- Sunseeker S4: no S4 specific winter instructions published; Sunseeker sells an S4 garage for the mower and station.
- Dreame A3 AWD Pro, Mova LiDAX Ultra 3000 AWD and Airseekers Tron SE: no official winter storage guidance found as of October 2026. Contact support before storing, and follow the general steps above.
Spring restart
Put the station back on its marked spot, reinstall any antenna, charge the mower and install any firmware update the app flags. Husqvarna suggests starting at a high cutting height once grass is actively growing and 2 to 2.8 inches tall.

Questions people ask
Can you leave a robot mower out in winter?
Most makers say no. Husqvarna says store the mower indoors in a dry place above freezing, Ecovacs recommends moving the GOAT indoors, and STIHL says snow, rain and low temperatures can damage the electronics.
Should I bring the charging station in for winter?
It depends on the brand. Husqvarna, Navimow and Ecovacs recommend bringing it indoors; Worx says the Landroid base can stay outdoors unless extremely cold weather is expected. If it stays out, Navimow says unplug it and cover it fully.
Do robot mowers work in winter?
Not well, and makers advise against it. Ecovacs says not to mow frosted lawns and the GOAT will not operate when its battery is below 0°C; Husqvarna Frost Guard parks the Automower below 5°C.
What charge level should I store my robot mower battery at?
Follow your manual: Husqvarna and Ecovacs say fully charged, Mammotion about 80%, Navimow at least 85%, and Worx Vision 70 to 80%. All warn against storing it empty.
Do I need to take down my RTK antenna or reference station for winter?
Brand specific. Husqvarna says the EPOS station can stay outside powered; Mammotion says the RTK station can stay out under a cover if temperatures stay above minus 4°F (minus 20°C); Ecovacs says bring the RTK head inside and leave the pole. Moving a station or antenna can require remapping.
