1X NEO delivery date and shipping status (October 2026)

As of October 28, 2026, 1X still promises US NEO deliveries in 2026, but we found no independent report of a paying customer outside 1X's early access program with a NEO at home. You can still put down a $200 refundable deposit.

Short answer

As of October 28, 2026, 1X says US deliveries of NEO "start 2026," but no independent outlet has shown a paying customer outside the company's early access program with a NEO at home. The price is still $20,000 to buy or $499 a month by subscription, with a $200 refundable deposit to order. NEO is US only for now, and international deliveries come later. 1X opened its Hayward, California factory on April 30, 2026, and said the first robots off the line go to its own R&D lab and internal home testing. The company has also said some buyers will get NEO this year and others later, so a 2026 order date is not a 2026 delivery promise.

Has anyone actually received a 1X NEO?

Not in a way anyone outside 1X can confirm. Startup Fortune reported on October 22, 2026 that it found no independent report, as of mid October, of a customer outside 1X's early access program receiving a NEO at home. The same piece says 1X has described shipping to early access customers, but it does not say how many units or to whom.

Offbrand Human, which tracks this question, published an update on October 19, 2026. Its latest checked status, dated August 7, 2026, found no named buyer outside 1X, no third party report of a NEO at a private address, and no 1X announcement that customer shipments had begun.

So the honest answer is: maybe a few early units have gone out, but there is no public proof yet. If you see a social post claiming a delivery, look for a named owner, a news visit to their home, or an official 1X shipping announcement.

When will 1X NEO be delivered?

1X's order page still says "US Deliveries start 2026." That leaves about two months in the promised window. The company's own words have softened over time. Robozaps quoted 1X saying "some of you will get your NEO this year, some will get them later."

The April 30, 2026 factory release said robots coming off the line first go to 1X's R&D lab and internal home testing, and that first customer shipments are planned for 2026. Early Access buyers at $20,000 get priority. Subscribers at $499 a month come after them, so a subscription order placed today is very likely a 2027 delivery or later.

1X has not published a delivery date for any individual order, and it has not said how many robots it will ship in 2026.

What 1X NEO does, according to 1X

These are maker claims. No independent reviewer has tested a NEO in a customer home over weeks of normal use.

  • Height 5 ft 6 in, weight about 66 lb (30 kg)
  • Lifts up to 154 lb and carries 55 lb, per 1X
  • 842 Wh battery, about 4 hours of run time
  • Claimed noise of 22 dB
  • NVIDIA Jetson Thor computer inside, called NEO Cortex
  • Colors: tan, gray and dark brown
  • Expert Mode lets a remote human operator take over tasks NEO cannot yet do alone

What reporters actually saw

Every hands on look so far has been a press session arranged by 1X. In the Wall Street Journal session, Joanna Stern saw household tasks done by a person in a VR headset steering the robot. That is teleoperation, not autonomy. Robozaps also summarizes a New York Times Hard Fork visit that included a failed floor pickup, balance trouble and tasks done under full teleoperation.

Startup Fortune reports that early hands on testing found NEO could not finish a single household task without a remote operator. 1X calls these operators Turing pilots. A light ring on the head glows when a human is in control.

1X disputes the idea that its demos are all remote controlled, and CEO Bernt Børnich has said the autonomous parts of its launch video were real. Treat any NEO clip as teleoperated unless 1X or the outlet clearly says otherwise.

What NEO costs over time

Buying costs $20,000 up front with a 3 year warranty. Spread over those three years, that is about $556 a month before electricity or any repairs after the warranty ends.

The subscription is $499 a month, which is $5,988 a year. Over three years that adds up to $17,964, close to the purchase price, and you do not own the robot at the end. Robozaps notes that launch coverage reported a six month minimum term, but that line no longer appears on the order page and the terms reserve a possible minimum, so the minimum is unconfirmed.

The $200 deposit is refundable. Robozaps reports it stays refundable until 14 days after 1X sends your order invitation, and that advertised prices can change before you accept that invitation.

Privacy and teleoperation

If you use Expert Mode, a remote person sees inside your home through NEO's cameras. 1X says sessions happen only in windows you approve, faces are blurred, owners can set no go zones, and operators are based in the US. Robozaps points out that each of these is a company claim and none has been independently audited.

Stern described early adoption as trading "the privacy of your inner sanctum." Gary Marcus told Startup Fortune that the privacy concerns will be huge. Decide how you feel about a stranger driving a robot in your kitchen before you pay.

Alternatives you can buy now

If you need help at home this year, a regular robot vacuum and mop does more reliable work for far less money. A Roborock Saros 20 or Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete costs under $2,000 and ships today.

If you want a humanoid in hand now, the Unitree R1 ships from about $5,900, but it is a developer and hobby robot, not a chore helper. Weave Isaac 1 takes $250 deposits at $7,999 with first California shipments planned for fall 2026. See our full list of home humanoids on sale or preorder.

Questions people ask

When will 1X NEO be delivered?

1X says US deliveries start in 2026, with Early Access buyers first and subscribers after. As of October 28, 2026, no independent report shows a customer outside the early access program with a NEO at home, and 1X has said some buyers will get theirs later.

Has anyone received a 1X NEO yet?

There is no public proof yet. Startup Fortune found no independent report of a delivery outside 1X's early access program as of mid October 2026, and Offbrand Human found no named outside buyer as of its August 2026 check.

How much does the 1X NEO cost?

$20,000 to buy, with a 3 year warranty, or $499 a month by subscription. Ordering takes a $200 deposit that 1X calls fully refundable.

Is the 1X NEO subscription worth it compared to buying?

Three years of the $499 subscription costs about $17,964 and you keep nothing at the end, while buying costs $20,000 and includes a 3 year warranty. Subscribers are also served after Early Access buyers.

Is 1X NEO remote controlled?

Partly. Reporters at 1X press sessions saw tasks done by a human in a VR headset. 1X offers Expert Mode, where a remote operator takes over, and says the rest is autonomous.

Can I get a 1X NEO outside the US?

Not yet. The order page lists US deliveries only, and 1X says international deliveries will start later.
